drxcm: By the way when I called the Auckland magnummac store, they said they hoped they would have a couple of each model for launch day, but ideally they'd have around 20 or so 3GS's.

chiefie: Alright.. curious, REAL curious... If I want to switch from TXTer60 (which I still got 20 months to go for the 24-months term) to any iPhone plan (probably iPhone Plan 60)... what will be total cost and what is the breakdown of that cost?
anyone care to help me to work that out? I can't seem to understand the complexity...

Well for a start, you cannot commit to an "Early Resign" within 12 months of a 24 month "You Choose" contract. You would actually have to cancel the contract and pay the termination fee of $160.
See here

Then you would just be up for the new iPhone plan, depending on if you want a handset or not... and what plan you choose

ie: $649 for 16GB iPhone on iPhone 60 plan or $849 for 32GB iPhone on iPhone 60 plan

Come on people. We are in a recession. You shouldn't be buying such extravagances at the moment!

(if this in any way increases my chances of getting one on Friday then good!)

Looks like I was mistaken, should cost you nothing... Here
Looks like they only charge if you are in the first 6 months of your contract, which you are, but going by this matrix, it looks like you pay nothing anyway!

For those who are thinking about buying on a contract and then immediately terminating the contract. Be aware that vodafone add GST to the termination fees stated on their website.

I think John Campbell should totally do another interview like the one he did last year, about how incredibly high The iphone 3G cost in New Zealand (http://tinyurl.com/6o3a6h).

I love watching Mark Rushworth crash and burn! Maybe get Paul Brislen on this time to talk about the Pirates in New Zealand Society?

On that page on vodafone.co.nz "all prices above include GST"

Well they cant do that.

Also,
They wanted to charge me 160 to come off my Mega plan! LOL!

I looked it up, because the base of the plan is a YouChoose 20. And they are only able to charge me $40, if that. hahaha.

I didnt actually cancel my account at the time, because I had nothing else to move to, was just interested in findingo ut.

I'm a little confused abut the piracy thing.

Why would anyone buy an unlocked iphone from NZ - possibly the most expenisve authorised off=plan seller in the world - when they can buy it much cheaper in another country, and jailbreak it for next to nothing?

I think it all has to do with the recent Dev Team discovery that it's getting harder and harder to unlock the iPhone.
