adrianj:  i can barely surf.

I've just now noticed that my GZ experience has fallen down.

www.stuff.co.nz is just sad (and that's even with using adblocker so I don't get all the ad servers in the mix).

Time for some trademe...

Well my comment is that I am not getting what I paid for.

I pay for 40g a month (which is more than enough for me), but want low latency and good speed (I tried playng BF3 last night - couldnt even latch on to a server).  These are the reasons I am with TC - if I wanted something else I would go somewhere else.

I'm bloody unhappy.

And as for all the users sucking down loads of content, this pretty much guarantees that uncapped wont be offered in NZ in the medium term.  I suspect everyone is taking it to the max(yes I know that is how TC has incentivised you), and  that the current usuage patterns dont reflect what would actually happen if it were unmetered all the time.

TC - Am I getting a discount for this weekend's shocking service?

TelstraClear: Good Morning Guys, our free broadband weekend is proving incredibly popular. As we predicted, the high numbers of people taking advantage of this opportunity to make the most of the internet will inevitably slow speeds and create some congestion. We expect this to be intermittent as demand ebbs and flows, and understand the frustrations this may create for some. Our technicians continue to monitor the network 24/7 and we'll be considering all your comments in our review.

Cheers
Tim.

Still no significant slowdown here.  None last night either.  There are different results if you select Internode for the Auckland server, well under 1mbps.   The above Auckland server is provided by Vodafone.

How are people finding services such as email.

I've got our email hosting on our .us site and we normally just use IMAP to it. I'm going to be rethinking that approach now.

It's great from a spam pov, as the spam doesn't hit our shores... but with an extra 100ms and packet loss, it's making my email almost unusabe now.

This is making me look forward to a UFB world. With 4 ports on the ONT, I'll be able to just spin up another service provider (or more likely I'll just run two or three at the same time so I can benefit from each providers free zones - $25 per provider rather than $75 to one provider).

"Incredibly popular" - "some slow downs"???? don't make me laugh

for the last 14 hours i have been stuck at no more than 0.54Mbps download! instead of my usual 8.5Mbps  i can barely surf.

rang TC helpdesk and checked the modem etc. their answer "wait till monday"

What happened to the fair use policy of kicking people off if they bring the network down?

Way to go TC to really p!ss off your customers

last speedtest 81ms ping to auckland 0.45Mbps down 2.01Mps up. totally pointless.

forgot to say - this is cable in Hataitai Wellington

According to the Wellington TelstraClear speed test, I'm struggling with 0.73Mbps down and 0.79Mbps up.

As a side note, casual WoW player here who likes to spend her weekends messing about in Azeroth, unable to do practically ANYTHING as my latency fluctuates between 900ms-19000ms (from the usual 100-200ms). D: Definitely not very knowledgeable about how these things work, but is it possible that they've lowered the priority for online gaming data? I'm browsing webpages tolerably, but WoW is almost unplayable.
