Rickles:

Thanks all, understood now.

Your elderly friend might get a bit annoyed with the menu system. Its not really that great for anyone of any age TBH.

Hi all,

The following features on VTV are now available on both Gen1 and Gen2:

-VTV App. manage your VodafoneTV account while you are on the move. You can check your TV guide, set shows to record and watch some subscribed Sky channels like live Sport* (*subscription required, some content not available when you are outside the home).

-Visual Fast Forward. Keep an eye on how fast you’re going forward or back with Visual Fast forward. With the image blocks at the bottom of the screens broken up into 20 second snippets, you won’t miss out on the action while skipping to find your place.

-YouTube Kids. YouTube Kids was created to give kids a safe, simple and fun environment to explore and discover new interests with family friendly videos.

-Accessibility Package. We want everyone to be able to enjoy VodafoneTV, so we’ve enabled subtitles on select channels as part of our accessibility package.

More information to follow.

Awesome, thanks for that.

Appears that the VTV App is still only for VTV users that acquired the box directly through vodafone, any update on when this will be available to all users?

thanks :-)

The phone app says to navigate to APPS> Phones & Tablets on Vodafone TV. This doesn't appear to exist.

Have you done a power cycle of the STB? If yes then send me a PM with your serial number and household ID and I will take a look

I didn't turn the TV on first to check! Good time to pop in a coffee pod and grab a biscuit. Anyway, that fixed it. Thanks Zolly!

Can you link more then one device?

Haven’t had a go at linking any yet, just want to make sure more then one, otherwise will have to choose between big screen iPad, or phone which more likely to have when out and about.

You can link up to 5 mobile devices. App works best on iPad/tablet.  Primary use cases:

1. watch TV (particularly Sky Sport) when out and about*

2. search for content then cast to TV

3. watch live tv/3 day rewind/Recordings or Sky On Demand on your mobile at home, useful if sick in bed.**

Unfortunately the world of media rights means there are some caveats...

* To watch TV when out and about on the VTV mobile app, the programme must offer out-of-home mobile viewing rights.  This is generally only available on Sky channels, primarily Sky Sport.  Free-to-air channels generally don't offer mobile viewing and so you must use their apps (TVNZ On Demand, ThreeNow etc).

** Note that to watch live TV at home on the VTV mobile app, the programme must have "in-home" mobile viewing rights.  In-home is determined as when the mobile device is connected to the same LAN (same Wi-Fi) as the STB.

Today I changed from a Huawei HG659B router to an Asus RT-AX3000 with a consequent change of Gateway and DHCP server from 192.168.1.254 to 192.168.50.1 and when I powered on my VTV Gen2 Set top box it would not connect by WiFi even though the SID was the same. I then tried connecting on the Guest SID and it still would not work. The VTV also thought the remote was connected via bluetooth however the remote had lost bluetooth connectivity.
The only way I was able to fix the problem was to firstly connect by Ethernet to the same network and then reconnect via WiFi, then re-pair the remote.
This appears to be a bug in the WiFi handling of VTV in version 5.1.5711.06jff(nz)/5.1.5711.06571110 VTV firmware.
