@PSlover14 the box is not Android-based. It's a flavour of Linux.

What you need is an Android TV app for the Vodafone Tv function, then everything else can run as normal ;-)

@sansom …

    >In addition  to 3 day rewind, VTV also offers the TVNZ On Demand and Mediaworks ThreeNow apps for those programmes that have shown more than 3 days ago.<

A little help please -

1:  Are you saying that when using the VodaTV device, OnDemand/ThreeNow viewing is ONLY available for programs 3 days AFTER their public broadcast

2:  As has been asked here a couple of times now, is the widely reported buffering problems being experienced with TVNZ On Demand shows ALSO occurring when using the VodaTV device?

Tks.

Another small issue I've noticed since the update:

When using the 20 sec skip buttons several times you now need to press the play button to resume playback.
Small but annoying problem that didn't exist previously.

No, they will likely be available to watch in the On Demand app soon after broadcasting. It's the same On Demand experience you get on other devices. It's just that the "catch up" service that is part of Vodafone TV is only available 3 days after broadcasting (and is completely seperate to the On Demand apps)

Sky TV have emailed Sky Sport customers with some of offers such as free movies or entertainment packages while there is no live sport. Is there any word or whether these will extend to those who get Sky Sport through Vodafone TV?

I'd still very much like to know how many/if any VodaTV users are experiencing buffering problems with TVNZ OnDemand when ethernet cabled.

Just linked VF TV applic.

When trying to play content on IPad on home wifi, “Sorry this content is unavailable at moment. Please try again later. MV1812.”

Seems no Freeview content can be played 3 day catch up IPad, and there is play symbol Prime TV and couple of channels but get above error code when press play now.

Seems it’s just easier to set up recordings or use push to TV to as easier way to select what to watch.

If covered earlier in thread sorry, missed it.

PSlover14:

Just bought a Vodafone TV, I have a few comments and questions:

Hi, to answer your specific questions *where I can*:

1) Will Disney+ be added as an app to it any time soon? Mine seems to have just about every other streaming platform but that, it would be a nice addition.

A: Yes it will be a nice addition, but we can't say sorry.  Not in the next couple of months anyway.

2) Is the Lightbox offer that is being advertised a code inside the box? Or is it applied when you activate the device and log into Lightbox? I ask because I only activated my device yesterday, but I have had it on layby at The Warehouse since prior to this promotion, and wondered if I was still eligible, like whether it was an automatic thing when you activated the device. The phone support were horrendously useless at helping work that one out.

A: the Lightbox voucher is retrieved through the vtv.nz customer account portal.  If you're eligible it will appear in a tab within the portal.  You then enter the voucher into the Lightbox app (on VTV or any other device).  If you DM me your details I can investigate how the layby scenario has affected your eligibility.

3) Is there a free trial of Sky? I wouldn't mind giving it a look, but don't want to commit to $24.95 a month yet without trying the service out (read: broke uni student) to see whether it's worth it.

A: Not at the moment sorry, but we have run free trials in the past and may do so again in the future.

4) Can the phone support PLEASE be informed of the currently running promotions, or what Lightbox is? I had to explain very slowly that i was talking about Lightbox, not "white box" as he said back to me.

A:we have informed the support staff of the Lightbox promotion along with full intranet articles with all the details.  Unfortunately you've struck an agent who wasn't across this information, apologies for this.  Again, if you DM me your details I can find out who you spoke to and make sure they get across the information.

5) I can dream, so would it be possible to allow users to install apps, or is it running some sort of custom OS that's not Android based? I wouldn't mind having something like Kodi to connect to my pre-existing media server to stream from, or having something like the chromecast functionality of Android TV devices so I don't need this AND a chromecast connected to my TV.

A. VTV doesn't use the Android TV OS/Chromecast.  The apps are all HTML5 running in a big screen/remote control browser on Linux OS.  However, it can support casting when the supported app is on the platform (Netflix and Youtube mobile apps currently integrate with this).  In terms of an App store for more apps (the "long tail" as they sometimes call it), this will be coming to VTV but not in the immediate (<3 month) future.

We will be getting in contact with all Sport customers early next week.

Hi, we don't have visibility of the performance of TVNZ OnDemand streams as they are delivered directly from TVNZ's CDN to your box, unlike the live and recorded TVNZ streams which are delivered from the Vodafone CDN supplied by Velocix.   If you can DM me your details I can discuss with TVNZ what you're experiencing as this isn't happening to others as far as we know.

I'm not sure about the MV1812 error, @ZollyMonsta?
