Well, it looks the Vodafone 3G network went down again, this time the IP with it. Sbiddle's rant on his blog post "Open letter to Russell Stanners - Why Vodafone NZ sucks" and paradoxm's entry "Vodafone's abhorrent network just craps out under the minor strain AGAIN!".

Well, after seeing how badly the 3G network performed just before Christmas Eve, it would be to expect something would be done to prevent a repeat. But apparently it went badly as well in the New Year's Eve.

Let's see what the Vodafone NZ crowd around here can say to help understand what's going on.

No good at all Vodafone. I will pay out my contract and move to Telecom if this keeps up. I would have thought the 3G network to be more able to handle the heavy traffic. Probably some good deals for 3G phones on trade me, used for one week only. Or wait for a Telecom trade in deal!

Yeah I  noticed this yesterday, little bit of a pain in the rear, but switched into 2G and no problems whatsoever.

People at the party that I was at last night were successfully sending and receiving messages, but they were all using 2G handsets as far as I could tell.

I would try a soft reset or SIM in another handset as there are no issues (that I am aware of)

Currently in north west part of Christchurch cannot sent texts from 021 numbers to 027 numbers. Problem is with both 3G and 2G handsets and for 2 hours have not been able to text 021 to 027

Problems too; would seem my phone is not receiving confirmation that it has successfully sent a text. The text is being delivered straight away, but remains in my outbox (thinking it is unsent). It ends up sending the text out three times.
