Has the usage meter had some loving?

It seems to be tracking much closer to real time, it seems to have lost all my usage since 2pm yesterday after changing plan type.

It still has TelstraClear branding at the bottom though....

Going to take a punt from your previous comment in another thread where you said it took days for your account to settle down the last change that you haven't changed plans very often?

I've been with TLC around 5 years and have always had a plan that allowed one free plan change per month. For reasons I've spoken about before I often change my plan up then down (then reverse) every month.

It's been my experience in the last 4 or 5 months that following plan change request:

* A new plan is created effective start date of the next day (shows 0.00 usage) (this has always happened).
* Current plan's usage is terminated immediately (this isn't shown as such in terms of closure, that always happens the following day upon activation of the new plan, but usage seems to have begun (ending) immediately, meaning from time "x" on plan change day until midnight nothing gets counted. (It used to continue to accumulate through to midnight, or at least through to 11.XX - anything after that was in the first hour of the next day).

Apart from that there have been many many times the graphical usage meter utterly FAILS to represent either what you have used or what TCL has been actually recording. If you want a much much more reliable view of what that is you just needed to pull the day / month to date raw data csv file down and chuck it into a spreadsheet. This almost always shows me accurate usage recording right up to the last hour end, by somewhere before the following hour end (ie fast). The GUI on the other hand can be hours behind. This relationship has perhaps been enhanced.

And there have been times where the usage meter has gone utterly on the blink and neither component records a thing for hours on end. Or where it shows signs of simply being badly coded (it never counts the 29th Feb for example - now seen that twice).

Just thought to follow on from xphile's comment about the raw data csv file download.
My csv raw data stats often only show hourly stats if I have exceeded some unspecified traffic rate. If it falls below this threshold, then I'll start seeing entries only once every two hours, then once every four hours, then once every eight hours, etc. and only back to hourly if I exceed that mystical threshold again.

If it falls below this threshold, then I'll start seeing entries only once every two hours, then once every four hours, then once every eight hours, etc. and only back to hourly if I exceed that mystical threshold again.

Certainly never experience that myself.

Here's the end of yesterday (today am in bytes up / down) - it was still recording the hour even at
0.077 / 0.168 Mb

That is most definitely odd. Clearly no question modem was online and you were not hopping on and off every other hour. Hunted my history for a good match with a really high an low long consecutive online run. I'm Hutt based and on Light not Warp. Possible that area or termination to modem (ability to count handshakes etc on the fly) could be different between the two standard bits of hardware, but it's not about bandwidth as I can still kill 6GB an hour here if I try. Puzzling if you agree with the total and it's not simply dropping the missing hours...

My observation is that it's a shonkey donkey, but when they keep throwing 50% more value at me every 12 months, it really gets harder and harder to complain as long as it vaguely works.

This week I went from $115 for 100Gb to $95 for 150Gb.... though I'm on the hunt for upload speed now!

I've paid $72/m for 100GB since last April's price change. So I will be asking if I retain the ability to change plans once a month. as $91/m for 250GB is rather better. But yes $95.95 for 150 is definitely going to get my continued business too, as that's still better regardless.
