I really think they make it up.

I have access to 150GB of allowance.

Last night I had used 132GB. This morning I turned on my puter, but have been so busy I have not really used it.

Now I get two email in one day......warning me of my usage.

How can I jump from 132 to 160 in less than 12 hours. This totally beats me.

Anyone else had this issue.

People suggesting it could be "Windows update"... Seriously, even a full month update is only around 100 - 250 MB, and that's if you have a lot of Microsoft software installed (Windows, Office, Visual Studio, SQL Server, Windows Live) otherwise it's usually less.

To reach 1GB on Windows Update it would have to be a fresh computer install with no updates installed ever. I'm sure the OP would point it out if that was the case? Or not?

The OP is talking about 30GB so I would discard Windows updates (or Apple updates, which are usually even bigger).

What security level are you using on WiFi?

WiFi locked down?

Download free version and do a complete scan of all PCs connected to your network

Do you run any mail servers?

There is lots you can be doing as part of basic fault checking as listed above

Nobody suggested it would just be a windows update, but its possible to be that combined with other items
Some game updates can run into many GBs, for example, and if you haven't run steam for a while you can end up with many games downloading updates all at the same time
