Unless I'm seeing things again, http://www.vodafone.co.nz has had a rather nice face lift overnight

Even the 3g coverage maps have had a sort-of update, can't really zoom in to cities like hamilton however...

Nice new look indeed!  A couple of thoughts though after a quick skim...

- From a usability perspective, the portal page navigation is nasty with the black text on dark photo backgrounds.

- Base plans are nicely hidden away still i.e. not listed in Plans dropdown but squirrelled away in the left-hand menu.

- Does this mean we're going to see a revamp in service quality as well or has all the money gone into this?

This is one of many projects at the moment that will increase service quality dramatically that is being deployed over the coming months

While it's a lot nicer visually the content is essentially unchanged. Still lots of obvious errors. You would think somebody could have at least checked the content and removed obvious flaws such as the Push To Talk pricing which is still only valid until the end of 2005.

The site was obviously done a long time ago and has only just gone live. Refences to 021/029 on the old site that had been changed to say "Vodafone Mobiles" are back and TXT2000 is not mentioned at all under You Choose. You can however get TXT1000 again with 1000 SMS's to 021 or 029 numbers.

Another shocking performance from Vodafone but I guess we have come to expect that.

Looks a lot nicer and loads so much quicker than the old site.

I clicked on the new site, and thought wait a minute, Ive seen this layout before. And yep a couple of month ago I was on the Voda UK site checking some details as the "cook" is off to UK tomorrow. Looks like Voda are rolling out a consistant global web design.

Stupid 3g coverage map... i'm green/red colorblind so to place red 3g coverage over a green new zealand... makes it extremely hard to tell where 3g coverage is!! lol oh well...

A nice cleaner layout.  I'm glad they removed the annoying popup window when you login to manage your account/pay your bill.

Still quite slow though after you login before it brings up your account details.

Having only the txt notification your bill has been paid online is annoying.  Would be nice if they added the option of having an email dispatched that you can store for proof of payment.  You can at least then print it out or store it away. Txt msg's get lost, accidentally deleted and take up room.

Just to add.. There is still no logout option on the 'my vodafone' account details.. only a 'close window' option.
When you click this now you are presented with a nice blank screen.  Nice... so does it mean you logged out of the system correctly?
Hmm...

Yeah, ok, so it's a pretty sight, but it doesn't work! (For me)  I went to check the balance on my four prepay phones and couldn't get any answers.  I tried to send email message and it logged me out and demanded new email address details to create a 'profile'.   There isn't any visible menu item for 'check prepay balance'.  On the old site there was an option that listed my four numbers where I could check balances.
Although I  logged in to start, it appears that whenever you cross boundaries from screen to screen it logs you out again.  Truly weird!
Even more weird - that a company supposed to be a leader in communications opens a major website change and doesn't even bother to warn their users in advance!

That's a good point - I guess the other maps are OK though?
In usability terms the colour-blind thing is quite bad - something Vodafone have missed or not thought about.

I like the look of the new site compared to the old.  Much cleaner and less clutter.

Despite other comments - I think the content is EXACTLY the same as the old site.
The only thing that's changed is the look and feel.

How long do you think it will be before the NZ site looks like Vodafone Aussie site?

You must have imagined it - as I apparently did!
My report to Vodafone brought this response:
Thank you for your email and we apologise for the delay. Unfortunately, there is no known issue with the log out on our website.
How many complaints are needed before it gets classified as a "known issue"?

Anyone tried it in FF? You cannot actually close it!

So I hope there is a timeout, so it automatically logs you out after 5 minutes.
