Vodafone is believed to have pushed back the introduction of Vodafone At Home, a service that will let customers use their mobile phone as their home phone and make and receive free local calls.

why delay again vodafone.. ??? why do u ve to delay EVERYTHING!
including Billing (which is the core of the business?)

I suspect the delay is related to the billing upgrade currently taking place. Remember at the time they announced this date the new billing platform was planned to be in place by Jan/Feb.

Vodafone, vodafone, vodafone!

One thing that companies should never do is piss their customers off.

If Vodafone said in the first place that At Home wouldn't be ready until 2008, then people would have accepted that and waited. If they then laucnhed it early, people would have praised Vodafone for being ahead of schedual.

The fact that they said it will be ready by mid 2007 and then delaid it, really pisses customers off.

They seem to do this with every service.

If Vodafone said that BestMate OA wouldn't be released until 2008 and then laucnhed it at the end of 2007, customers would be happy.... but because they said it would be laucnhed in early 2007 and then failed to do so, customers are pissed off!!

Get better marketing staff Vodafone!!

I TOTALLY agree - first rule I was taught (especially when dealing with IT projects) is SET REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS.
It's unlikely that you'll ever get a customer complaining because you finish early 8-).

This has really put Vodafone in my "List of companies that I'll dump as soon as possible".

For business+technical reasons I have to be with Vodafone - but if there was another GSM provider in NZ, I'd happily dump them right now. I'm not sure how many $$thousands we spend each month with them, but they certainly don't seem worthy of it at this point in time.

(I'll be interested to see what flag gets put by this post - I'm sitting in Munich at the moment).

simon14, I agree with you on this, but... Did Vodafone actually give a date for Vodafone at Home, or was all runours anyway? The closer I got to see more information about this was a price rumour.

And I mean, c'mon... It's just a mobile phone.

Different things - it's a computing platforn, not a mobile phone (only). Have you stopped to check the difference?

OK, you may be right about At Home but they have done this to other services liek bestMate.

Yes it's just a mobile phone, but that really doesn't make it ok to hype your customer base up and then delay delay delay.... you could say that statement about any service really!!

And just for the record people, i'm not a Vodafone hater.... when they do things right i praise them!! My blog on Sky Mobile tv is a prime example.

But that's my point... I don't see where Vodafone is creating the hype. They have a similar service in Germany, and New Zealand news outlets and users are crying for this kind of service - but I don't remember reading any Vodafone announcement about this...

We do that!  Our business customers' expectation is sometime in the next few years, if at all.  That way, they really impressed if we supply a solution within months. Wink

V'daf,ne will be putting VoIP units in the exchanges through iSlug whihc they then will plumb the existing copper wires into to provide cheap voice "exchanges"........ but,,, oh that's another systems merger.. uh, oh!

If I can work out this stupid VoIP client in my N95, i'll do VoIP over HSDPA.... Any takers on helping me getting this working????
