Vodafone is launching a free, exclusive SKY offer for customers on Unlimited broadband and home phone plans – making it even more affordable for Kiwis to tune into high quality entertainment.

From today, new and existing Vodafone customers who sign up to a 24 month Unlimited broadband and home phone plan can get SKY Basic free for six months when they sign up to SKY on a 12 month term.

Matt Williams, Vodafone Consumer Director, says Vodafone is making great entertainment and unlimited broadband accessible for more Kiwis.

“We are the only broadband provider offering SKY, a service which already entertains around two million Kiwis. Now there’s even more reason for lovers of great entertainment to get SKY, with our exclusive offer.

“Kiwis can now enjoy New Zealand’s most popular content and unlimited broadband –standard, VDSL, or Ultra Fast – while combining more essential home services onto one easy-to-manage bill – something we know our customers prefer.”

SKY Director of Marketing, Mike Watson, says Vodafone’s latest offer is about delivering consumers fantastic entertainment value.
“If you are getting SKY for the first time or a returning customer, it doesn’t come any better than this. SKY and Vodafone have come together to bring Kiwis this fantastic package just in time for some great upcoming SKY content.”
With SKY GO subscribers can also enjoy 10 live streamed channels and watch catch-up telly from more than 35 channels on the go. Subscribers can also rent blockbuster movies and TV series with the push of a button.

If you have unlimited broadband why would you need sky?

I think a more exciting proposition would be partnering with Netflix or similar and giving people a reason to upgrade to Ultrafast and unlimited.

nice promo, but 24 month contract??   with an almost $600 total ETF ouch!


"If your broadband service is disconnected or you downgrade from Unlimited
Broadband with home phone prior to the completion of the minimum contract period,
you will be charged an early termination fee of $199.
If you cancel SKY with Vodafone prior to the completion of a 12 month minimum
contract period, a maximum early termination fee of $376 applies."

$199 is a standard Vodafone (fixed line) ETF. The other one is from SKY, we just pass it along.

Interesting offer, but my Sky decoder is in my boot waiting for me to drop it back to Sky.  I never watch it and when I do strange people interrupt the shows and shout at me.

Nothing has changed to stop that. My netflix at home works completely fine with Uno Telly and Unblock US.

Meanwhile, Vodafone cable (ex Telstra Clear) customers are receiving letters this week advising them of price increases for Sky TV Premium channels, and their T-Box monthly rental.

Why Vodafone WHY?  

What is so different about your Cable customers that all we get is price increases, and your other customers deals, promotions, and cheaper prices????

I'll be looking for alternatives when my current 12 month contract runs out for TV, Phone, Mobile, and Internet.

I'd say it's very likely they are simply passing on the extra fee's charged to them by Sky, something ALL sky users will have gotten recently (I got a letter directly from Sky)
