Hi All,

I've been happily streaming Netflix UK, BBC iPlayer, 4OD etc using Unblock-us.com for DNS. It was great. House of Cards was looking very promising!
I switched to Vodafone VDSL (from VF ADSL) and it continued to work for exactly a day. Since then (a couple of days ago), all of these sites block me for being overseas ("Not available in your country").

I don't see how it could be a VDSL issue as it did work, for about 24hrs.

Unblock-us support don't know what's up - account is good and diagnostics are all green. I also tried Unotelly, but same result with them.

Vodafone support said they wouldn't help because it was illegal (I know). I asked them publicly on twitter and they said they'd look into it, but other than a response saying 'no-one else has complained', no help there so far. I'm also somehow locked into a 12 month contract because of upgrading to VDSL, but I sure didn't sign anything or even verbally agree to that, I wouldn't have done it.

Anyone experience similar? It's so frustrating. I'm paying for DNS Unblocking and Netflix and can't watch a thing!

What device are you using? Have you tried deleting the cache?

Interests: HTPC, Web App authoring.

I am moving this to the Vodafone subforum because it seems only a few Vodafone customers on *DSL are still experiencing this problem.

Are you in the South Island?

I've tried this solution and while it worked once for a tv show on the PC it didn't work for the appletv

As 1 in 20 times seems to go thru on the PC, I think this is just a co-incidence thing

If somebody from the lower south has vodafone adsl and this has actually worked as a permanent solution for PC and other devices please post

2. Click on "Review Payment History"
3. You can now use Netflix

I'm on Vodafone and this has worked for me. Was randomly having a browse to see if I could cancel my subscription but then realised that this allows you to "back-door" into Netflix.

could you not access anything on netflix before?

Also where in NZ are you?

I've tested VF adsl at 5 sites now in Central Otago with a laptop, an appletv and a PS3, none have worked on VF adsl with either unotelly or unblock-us

at all 5 sites the equipment works on VF and Telecom 3G as well as neighbours non VF adsl connections

If i take the laptop and appletv to chch i can get it to work with a VF ADSL connection there.

Can someone at VF please acknowledge that this issue is being looked into

When I say "back-door" I say that as a layman and not in any technical sense, simply because this allowed me to get around the regional restriction.

Yea, I was getting the "Sorry, Netflix hasn't come to this part of the world" message when trying to access Netflix. I'm in Wellington and on 50mb unlimited cable internet. I'm also using Hola Unblocker. Maybe try that?

Sorry, then... I doesn't look like a "solution". The problem people are having is with DNS unblockers and Netflix, not with Hola and Netflix.

I tried the help/payment history solution but no go for me. Can still watch UK.

Surely VF can fix this for us Central/South Island customers? If the services work on mobile platforms (and therefore they aren't doing anything to stop Netflix being accessed) surely broadband can be configured the right way on their end. Or is this thinking off base?

ANYONE FROM VODAFONE OUT THERE LISTENING? Would love your input.

Hi. Its something wrong with the end equipment.

To get more familiar with the setup are you configuring the DNS inside of the modem with the admin login or on the device. Also post your firmware version. I did notice one of my connections hg659 won't work with device set DNS yesterday.

I'm modifying DNS on separate devices (all windows 8, 8.1) all have the same issue.
Not so keen on modifying DNS at router level, although when I thought I'd try it, it seems I don't have admin access anyway! (User level access doesn't allow DNS modification).

Hi Tima

I can successfully configure the appletv to work over VF 3g hotspot, telecom 3g hotspot and vf adsl using unotelly and unblock-us, on all setups Hulu plus works to the states, so I know that the hardware is fine and the setup of the dns is fine too, netflix-us works also on all those setups execpt for vf adsl

The only thing that doesn't work is netflix US thru VF adsl.

We have ruled out hardware
we have ruled out setup
we have ruled out accounts been paid

I am happy to take a day off work and have a skype session and show a VF employee the steps i'm taking and show them that the only configuration that doesn't work is VF adsl

Please can we get this fixed

TimA - thanks for your response. I'm with Predated. We have tried a number of variations but VF ADSL does not allow playing of Us based Netflix content.

I can do everything you would expect to do in the player app - browse, select, jump to a different genre; the user index is totally functional. However, when I try to play something, there is a spinning wheel until the things time out.

Much to my relief, this was not the case when I was traveling last week and seamlessly accessed and played the US based programming via a 4G hotspot on my phone. Chewed through my data allowance, but it was worth it to see things working properly.

There are a good number of VF customers here that are hopeful of a quick resolution to this problem. Look forward to your thoughts. Thanks
