I am just reading this month's Unlimited, where Vodafone CEO Russell Stanners comments on Vodafone, life and everything (oh, and some Telecom as well), and on page 31 he comes clean about the billing problems the company faced during their transition to the new billing and charging system:

Things haven't been running smoothly in the Vodafone back office, either. Stanners had indicated a new mobile billing system wouldgo live by the end of last year, but the first bills didn't go out until the beginning of June this year. By the end of the first month the Vodafone billing thread at Geekzone (www.geekzone.co.nz, a favourite Stanners source of information) was still populated with customers complaints, and it's difficult to tally their fury with Stanners's claim the implenetation has been "an outstanding success".

It seems the chosen billing system struggled to keep pace with company growth. Stanners, though, takes personal blame for the project's overrun. "The schedule I believed was going to happen didn't happen - it took us about six months longer. You've got to take risks, we were driving pretty hard and I got it wrong".

Well done for owning up the problems... And thanks for the link love...

Now, folks, please don't go around trying to figure if he's actually registered here, or just one of the thousands of lurkers...
