I have been trying to get a DrayTek Vigor 2130 router configured to replace that damn 'Vodafone Station' that was supplied with the Fiber UFB connection.
- They should never have supplied such a router to a business in the first place. Horrible thing, can't even change basic settings like turning off DHCP without having to call their tech support to do it from their end ><.

I talked to their Technical team and Set it up with a static WAN IP, VLAN tag of 3, as instructed.
Couldn't even get it to ping the default gateway.

I've set this same model router up for Telecom UFB, Snap UFB, and I think Actrix too.
- I just can't figure out what Vodafone's UFB setup requires, and none of the support staff have anything past the basic knowledge because they are all trained to deal with their Vodafone Stations.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Who said to use VLAN 3?

UFB uses a 802.1q value of 10 unless you've requested an untagged UNI

I should mention that I tried using Vlan tags of 2-10 just while experimenting around.
- Telecom UFB setups I've done used 10, Snap too I think.

Are you sure the VLAN tag is meant to be 3?  Every other Vodafone connection I've heard of uses 10.

That is what 2 different Vodafone tech support people have told me.
But yes, I did think it was strange too. But as I said, I did try using 10 as well with no luck.

I am surprised that Vodafone doesn't have a support page that just lists all this information somewhere.
Over the years using ADSL and VDSL there are various places around the web now that list the common ISP configuration settings, but I couldn't find anything for Vodafone UFB.

UFB only uses 10 as the 802.1q tag. Nothing else can work.

As for ISPs offering pages with support information it pretty much comes down to ISPs only supporting products they supply which these days are typically fully autoprovisioned. There is no need to provide this information because none of it is required when setting up a device. The old days where an end user had to configure their modem are well and truly over.

Providing Auto-provisioned devices is fine for most home users.

But this was a business customer. Providing a modem that has DHCP Server enabled in a domain environment, with no option to turn it off without calling Vodafone support, isn't very helpful for a business.
I can understand home users wanting the default configuration, but Businesses often need things like VPN passthrough setup, VOIP options etc.

Is it really that hard for them to pick a few business-class brands like DrayTek, MikroTik, etc. and give basic support?
- If they can just help me get the internet connection working I can take it from there.

I wouldn't grade Draytek as business grade, but your point is not without merit.  The problem is the maintenance of the material.  You have to keep it up to date with all firmware versions.  It's very hard to justify a staff member to do that in a vendor environment.

Simple answer to that is you're looking at the wrong ISP if that's what you want.
