Got my VDSL connection switched from Snap to Vodafone today.

Phone was connected as well, we now have a pots line again as our phone with Snap was VOIP.

Phone connection went fine.

All the chorus tech had to do was unplug one modem and plug in the new one. That happened at 3:30pm and we still have no internet.

When I look at the modem management page is states that IPv4 is connected, IPv6 as connecting.

DSL light is flashing green.

I have tried to talk to the provisioning team but apparently they are really busy and no one has called back although I got a text from a CSR I spoke to earlier this afternoon to see if it was working yet and to let me know he still couldn't get hold of anyone in the provisioning team.

Would it show as being connected to IPv4 if there was no dsl signal?

Chorus tech just said signal was there and gave me the down/up speeds (35/10) and made a phone call to have the service changed over to vodafone, he did this before he left.

We have a XDSL filter/splitter fitted ND haven't had any issues before.

Hello... Our robot found some keywords in your post, so here is an automated reply with some important things to note regarding broadband speeds.

If you are posting regarding DSL speeds please check that

- you have reset your modem and router

- your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing

- you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

- your tests are always done on an ethernet connection to the router - do not use wireless for testing

- you read this topic and follow the instructions there.

Make sure you provide information for other users to help you. If you have not already done it, please EDIT your post and add this now:

- Your ISP and plan

- Type of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL)

- Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)

- Your general location (or street)

- If you are rural or urban

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin

- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service

- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

I recommend you read these two blog posts:

- Is your premises phone wiring impacting your broadband performance? (very technical)

- Are you receiving a substandard ULL ADSL2+ connection from your ISP?

If I remember correct Chorus need to close the order / job which can take a number of hours after the change over

Don't quote me on this but I am sure I have seen this before @TimA will be able to confirm

It's been about 5 hours so think chorus should have done their bit by now.

Luckily I have about 4gb of mobile data accumulated on my 2degrees mobile so I can churn through a bit of that.

Just to complicate the matter further the data outlet plug on my phone/data module is a bit wobbly but has been working fine for the last 2 years. It's possible it may have been affected by the tech removing the rj 45 plu I had in there and plugging in the new mini data type plug but there isn't really any way I can confirm this unless someone from vodafone can confirm the connection their end is all sorted.

Give them a call to be sure that its got the correct profiles and our worksheet is completed. Put in your username for the VDSL line in the HG659 and it should work but most likely at ADSL speeds.

I did try and call but they were too busy, I'm supposed to be getting a call back but nothing yet. It's not a major as long as it gets sorted in the morning.

No idea what the issue was, one of the VF guys might know.

Download speeds are less than half of what I had with Snap so hopefully this will increase over the next week or so. I used to get downloads of 30 plus when running speed test from my iPad, fastest I have gotten this morning is 12.

sounds likely you were on 17a with snap? assuming your talking sync rates. give it some time, and it will probably return..
