Hi,
compared to others I have talked to who are a similar distance from the cabinet I am getting significantly slower speeds - logged a support call & was told to expect the performance I am getting as am at the limit of effective range - it is 829m & the people I have spoken to are getting 30Mbps at similar distances.

Does anything from these stats corroborate one way or the other:

- your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing

- you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

Seems about right for the distance and also take into account the age of the copper connecting you to the cabinet / exchange

At that distance it would be marginal and crosstalk from other connections would have a significant effect too - might not see 10Mb/s

It is an unlimited VDSL connection via Vodafone, Chorus gave the figure of 829m to the cabinet, I made it 850 on a mapping app & that was to the exchange going up the property boundary & then down the street.

A splitter was installed, with a new cable to jack point. As for ADSL2+, used to get 15-17M early this year but dropped to 5-6M VF/Chorus could give no reason, so current 8 is an improvement.

Unless you need the upload go adsl2+, but first do you have a master filter? Some techs are lazy.

Be interesting to know why - 17Mb/s on ADSL would suggest a far better line than what you have now.

There has been a lot of work on the street so could be related to that. Only 200m tops to the exchange as the crow flies.

The copper cable will not run direct to the exchange, Would be good if it did

you need to ask your ISP for your attenuation as your modem isnt displaying it, it will provide more info on the situation
