Hey Guys

Just curious to see if any one else is having major issues with Vodafone cable at the moment? Apparently they decided to upgrade the node with no prior warning and my internet has been down in Newtown Wellington since last thursday... This is on top of constant issues with my connection, pages take forever to load but torrents are fast? Vodafone are being very cagey about giving me a time frame to be fixed. But as a web dev 6 days with no internet is a major drama! Anyone out there with info please help!

We're in Berhampore and all is working well here. I did have some issues last week, but I think that was due to router issues. New router went in a couple of days ago and no problems since then.

I have also had my router replaced twice in 6 months. This issue seems to be a node upgrade ( as told to me by vodafone tech support ) that was not scheduled or advised of before hand.

Been having some issues myself such as linespeed randomly dropping, latency spikes, pages not loading, etc, though this is likely due to the transparent proxy, which is probably the least stable part of the VF cable network. Fixing the proxy would probably be the single most effective thing that VF can do to improve performance. I really wish VF would fix this once and for all, its ridiculous.

You should not have equipment that drops packets and takes 2k ms to respond, major bottle neck.

We would not take customers offline for that length of time as part of the planned upgrades to the Cable (HFC) network it has to be another issue,

The planned work is due to be complete around end of October / Early November but impact to customers during the upgrades should be very minimum

I suggest the OP contact Vodafone and arrange a technician to come and check the physical connection.

Finally back online tonight after 6 days. Had to escalate it through 3 sets of managers to get it resolved. Such poor service from Vodafone.

May I ask what the purpose of this proxy is? Is it for cache?

Please discuss the proxy in another thread. Don't go off topic.

They would not tell me, only that it was maintenance/and or upgrades to the network.

So they didnt have to come onsite or anything to sort it out? I would be pushing them for a credit for the amount of screwing around that made it take that long to get sorted in that case.
