I have never heard anything good about Unlimited broadband from any ISP. But more and more companies are offering this unlimited plan. Can someone tell me if Vodafone's naked unlimited broadband is any good?
Are the speeds consistent and don't suddenly drop off a cliff at 5pm?
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I cant seem to find any answers.

Hello... Our robot found some keywords in your post, so here is an automated reply with some important things to note regarding broadband speeds.

If you are posting regarding DSL speeds please check that

- you have reset your modem and router

- your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing

- you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

- your tests are always done on an ethernet connection to the router - do not use wireless for testing

- you read this topic and follow the instructions there.

Make sure you provide information for other users to help you. If you have not already done it, please EDIT your post and add this now:

- Your ISP and plan

- Type of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL)

- Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)

- Your general location (or street)

- If you are rural or urban

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin

- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service

- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

I recommend you read these two blog posts:

- Is your premises phone wiring impacting your broadband performance? (very technical)

- Are you receiving a substandard ULL ADSL2+ connection from your ISP?

I have been on high-speed VF cable for two years - with a data cap for the first year, and unlimited data when it became available this year.
I have always got the full advertised LOCAL speeds, at peak and off-peak times.
Going "unlimited" has made absolutely no difference to upstream or downstream speeds. (100/10Mbps)
I prefer not to worry about my data usage (typically 500GB per month).

It's okay, although lately the odd international webpage wont load properly and a couple of reloads are needed. One of the websites I visit often is unusable. However this has only been the last few weeks.

Local websites seem to be fine.

Netflix/Huluplus all stream fine, however the thumb nails in the roku app take awhile to load now. Mgo movies start off in HD then look like you're watching a VCR halfway through.

Downloads are fine, and gaming is fine. No lag/latency there.

We've been on Vodafone's unlimited naked VDSL plan for almost 5 months now and are quite happy with it. We experienced some speed/dropout issues not too long ago but that was a wiring problem at the pole which Chorus fixed promptly, giving us a speed a boost we were quite happy with!!

There's very often stuff being streamed from Netflix or Youtube here, as well as some Lightbox and we don't experience any streaming problems, no matter what time of day stuff is being streamed. I'm a shift-worker so can be streaming stuff at all times of a day/night throughout a week. At the moment I have absolutely no idea how much data we chew through each month because I don't need to care :-)

That said, I actually don't think it'd be particularly high - I'll take a look...

I have it and my speed never changes as a rule. Sometimes there is minor variation but it is not common and not on a particular schedule.

Another Unlimited supporter here. I don't use P2P, but everything else runs fast and smooth regardless of the time of day or night.
