I had a brief outage on Wellington cable around 10am and someone else on Wellington cable is still down, so doesn't look like it's consistent.

Last night was planned upgrade work on the Cable (HFC) network this was posted up on the Vodafone NZ community,

Do the basic fault checking and restarts and if this fails to bring internet backup then it will need to be looked into further

Link light is blinking. I think it's trying to negotiate. Not the best time as my wife was on a very important phone call to ACC.

Do you have a link to the upgrade work notification? All I could find was http://community.vodafone.co.nz/t5/Network-status/PLANNED-MAINTENANCE-Fixed-Line-Phone-Broadband-and-Cable/m-p/151221#U151221 which, with no dates or times, isn't particularly useful :)

Yup, I saw the same notice and it's totally ambiguous. "Some customers in the following areas may experience a loss....." Which areas!?

Is there any hope that VF might share what the upgrade work is all about? I know they like to keep customers in the dark until the last possible moment, but upgrades are upgrades, and that's the kind of stuff customers might want to know about.

Of course, if the upgrades don't affect the service in any meaningful manner that's tangible for customers - so if they're not related to speed or obvious service quality - then calling them upgrades is a bit of a misdirect, and at the end of the process they'll have a bunch of customers wondering what happened to these ethereal upgrades they lost service over.
