Hi there

I use pre-paid mobile broadband data when I take my laptop on holiday and utilise the internet. I also allow my half sisters iPad to connect to the mobile broadband device I have.

I'm thinking of upgrading from my Vodafone Mobile Wi-Fi R205 to a Vodafone R215 4G device (to take advantage of 4G speeds in areas that are covered), to connect my Samsung tablet, laptop, and iPad to, when I go away from the house for an extended period of time.

Does the Vodafone R215 device come with a sim card? Or if not, could I use the sim card provided with the R205 mobile?

If you are posting regarding DSL speeds please check that

- you have reset your modem and router

- your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing

- you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

I managed to purchase the 4G device.

The SIM from the Wi-Fi R205 device may be deactivated as I hadn't topped up or used it in over a year. Would that be the case? Is it possible to have it reactivated? Or would I need to buy a new SIM (looking on the Vodafone website I see a SIM for $5 and a SIM for $30)?

To keep a prepay number active it needs to be topped up at least once every 13 months or it's deactivated

$30 SIM will come with 5GB valid for 6 months if activated during the promotional offer or 1GB if activated after the offer ends, Sorry not sure when 5GB offer ends I am sure date is on VodafoneNZ site

So the SIM (other than the included micro SIM) for $30 listed on this webpage http://www.vodafone.co.nz/mobile-broadband/prepay/ will fit in the 4G mobile broadband device?
