Anyone else having trouble with their cable connection? We've had no net for two days.. went slowly for a few hours on Friday and then stopped working entirely. Now chewing up tonnes of mobile data to keep us going.

Contacted Vodafone on Facebook but they aren't interested.

Tried to call faults but there was a 55 minute wait.

Cheers,
J

No problems in Island Bay (on VF HSC 100/10)
Normal speeds (I test several times daily)
Make the call.

EDIT  The longest outage that I've had in the last 2 years lasted less than 2 hours.

Interesting. A colleague of mine was getting 4 Mbit/s download yesterday on his cable connection. All very strange.

No issues in Mt Cook either. Bite the bullet and wait for Faults to answer.

unless you can log a fault no one can look into it for you. you just have to stay on the line. its sucks, but it is what it is

The hilarious thing is that the retention team at VF were supposed to call me on Monday (their instructions, not mine)... it's now Sunday and have heard nothing. Blimey guys.

I thought there is call back to a mobile phone so you don't have to wait on the line.

Certainly working in Johnsonville. Unless you can find other people in your specific area having problems I'd say it's something on your conneciton.

Some troubleshooting:

- Have turned off/on again: modem, router, PCs?
- Is just a PC not working or everything in the house?
- Can you log into your router and confirm it is still configured with the correct IP address for your connection and using the Vodafone DNS?
- If the router is correctly configured have you tried connecting a PC directly to the modem and configured it with your IP address and Vodafone DNS to see if it is not your router having problems?

I fixed it! I discovered that VF changed my Static IP. With some digging/testing/troubleshooting I've put in the newly discovered Static IP and it's working.

Good work.

However, how did you discover the new static IP?

And how can Vodafone just change someone's static IP on cable without notice?

Unusual.
I've been on four different VF cable plans at the same (physical) address for 2 years, and my IP address has not changed.

I had the same IP address for almost nine years. Only changed it because we moved, and the previous connection had the same IP address for eight years.

Very strange. Are you sure you didn't change the router by mistake and found the correct one somewhere later?

No issues here in Strathmore, and like Mauricio above, we've been through several suburbs over the last 8 years with the same IP address.
Have also changed plans numerous times with no effect on the address.

My mum moved from Miramar to Johnsonville a couple of years ago, and still has the same IP address from about 2001
