I have just got VFX, i am using the Pap2t, i just got it to the vfx today i got it set up and rang my cell phone to make sure it was working.

it worked no probs however, when i ring a number and hang up b4 it is answered eg my cell phone, the person i am calling (from my pap2t vfx) phone will keep ringning for about 10 secounds after i have hung up. not  a problem for me but it could be for the person on the other end as if they answer the phone within that 10 secound peroid they will think sombody just prank called them.

is this normal is it lag or is there a setting in the pap2t that i can adjust?

cheers

Hu? did i do that?

It is not normal for me (have been on VFX for 10 months) and there are no settings you can change.  Sounds like you need to contact the help desk.

Definately not normal. Mine doesn't do that at all. The helpdesk should be able to get it sorted.

If you make a call when this happens and send me the details, Date and Time as well as your VFX number I will take a look,

Thi should not happen but It will most probably be to due with the message not being sent correctly, most likely due to the router in front of your PAP2T, my suggestion is to
  • first set your PAP2T up on a Static IP,
  • Make sure you set the DNS in the PAP2T as well
  • Set QOS on your router for that Static IP if possible

ok the router is set to access point, basicly using the router so i can have wirless access for my pc's then it runs to my modem which asings the DHCP.

because the router is set to access point i dont think it has any QOS options.

one thing i fogot to mention it seems to take some time to indicate that you are ringing sombody after you have put in the phone number, so you dial then about 3 - 5 secounds later it starts to ring the number. this could have somthign to do with the same issue

things im going to try

connect the Pap2t direfctly to the modem.

set the IP and the DNS to static.

will post back to let you know how i get on

Argh so this is also an important point, local numbers should ring within a second or 2 same for Toll Calls, so I am picking that it is the same issue and there is some delay in messages getting sent due to your local network.

Yes just time and VFX number will be fine

ok a quick update, as of now i have only just been trying my cell phone. when i tried my landline it a differnt story

when i call my land line , vfx to my home number the dial goes through instantly apears that there is only a delay in dial out when i call cell phones not a problem for me

but instead of the phone ringing for about 10 secounds after i hang up.  if i call my land line and hang up the phone that is attached to the pap2t, my land line wont stop ringing it keeps going until i pick the land line up obviously there isnothing on the other end so this could be a real problem if i call sombody and they dont answer i hang up there phone could bepotentialy be ringing for weaks if they are on holiday lol

may give the help desk a call will post back if i come up with anything

The problem is your router changing ports every message,  ie it tells the network that we should talk to it on one port but the next message it changes again, this is not good

the example here shows the calls to 0800149638 the orig message comes from 36216 but is telling us to talk to 41082 then changes again to 44417 so we are never in line for the correct ports, ie the messages never get back to your device

Whats this means is that your router is a pretty bad one as it does not do natting properly and will not workw ell for VOIP due to behaviour we see here

I'm, having a similar issue. When I phone out to a mobile from my VFX line the mobile continues to ring for 10 seconds.

I have a Linksys PAP2T, the router is a Linksys WAG325N, I'm forwarding the following ports (all UDP) to my PAP2T:

5060 - 5061
53
69
10000 - 20000

Any ideas? If this could be a NAT issue, should I put the PAP2T in the DMZ?

BTW: this is day #1 with Fusion so excuse my ignorance ;-)

Is your PAP2T on a Static ? if your forwarding then you probably need to be on one.

Did you port forward before or after this issue occured ?

Yes its on a static IP and the port forwarding takes this into account. Have had it running this way all day today - day #1.
