Hi all,

We have poor Vodafone reception at one end of our property and after some discussion with Vodafone the solution was to get a SureSignal. After a months delay due to no stock we received our SureSignal. It was plugged in and we now get full cell reception where we didn't have before.

Here is the problem. Despite showing full signal strength callers can ring our phones and they ring at the callers end but we don't get rung at all. Once leaving the SureSignal zone (or calling out) we receive a missed call SMS.

I have tried emailing Vodafone and the Vodafone Community without luck. Does anyone have any ideas? The offshore CSR's don't have any idea what I'm talking about.

Cheers, Matt.

I think the SureSignal is a 3G device, so maybe your phone is set to 4G??

I do remember it was a few days before mine started working properly.

I just checked my phone...

For Mobile Network settings mine says "4G (preferred)/3G/2G"

What the! You can't set a handset to 4G only They live in Poor coverage and the handset will attach to the 3G Sure Singal unit as it will be by far the strongest signal

If they are connected to a poor / congested internet connection this will cause issues with the Sure Signal service

@hairy1 How good is the internet connection peak time? If it slows right down at peak time then this is most likely calls could not reach the handset

Also how many other users are attaching to the unit, Look at the ICON of the phone on the Sure Signal unit and see if others are attaching to it and making calls

No other users attaching. 100 Mbps / 20 fibre connection with no slow downs.

Well I am no expert. I'll admit that and there is oodles of proof in many forums to support that.

Just chucking thoughts out there, coz every now and then I accidentally have a good one!

There is no proof to support this! Just cause it's written on Geekzone / forums does not mean it's correct

Anyways, I am just a hefty stones throw away from OP, so if he wants to swap SS's for testing, I can oblige.

I dont think they are tied to specific accounts or anything are they?

No, you just need a Vodafone broadband connection for one to work. I bought mine off trademe and worked first time, baring the network registration period.

Current status: Rang Vodafone. I managed to get through to the SureSignal team who are going to scratch their heads and ring me back.

From some extensive testing (the last 20 minutes) it has about a 50% hit rate with calls. I can tell if the mobile is going to ring with the phone icon on the front as it lights as soon I start the call. Half the time it doesn't light and the call rings twice and goes to answerphone. This is with just me at home and no network activity.

I will update if Vodafone have an answer.

Cheers, Matt.

Vodafone rang back while doing some investigation. Ironically the phone didn't ring and the they left a message... :-(

The investigation is on-going apparently and they are going to SMS me.

Have you done the 30 second hard reset ?

And when you do the hard reset, it can take 4 hours to perform the sync.

When I had my SS, I'm sure VF had to incorporate that fact that I had a SS into my ADSL "profile", or what ever. It was a number of years ago.

I have also had the wall wart fritz out and cause all sorts of intermittent issues.

Hopefully yours is new device ?

No SS is not related to ADSL profile in anyway and never has

Nope. No reset performed. Vodafone business didn't mention resetting. I am wondering about it being related to one handset, my Samsung Galaxy Edge S7. The wife's S7 doesn't seem have the calling problem.

 Could be a handset issue.

There were two visitor handsets that did not connect to my SS, even though they also were on a vodafone number. And were set for G3 / G4, etc. I think one of them was a parallel imported device. It could be the G3 band ?

Never got to the bottom of it as they were visitors, and wasnt worth the effort. :-)
