Hello There,

Vodafone had informed their retailors that this functionality will be available on 15th May 2008.

On 15th, Vodafone sent out communication that, due to technical snag, this has been delayed again until further notice. This is quite frustrating to customers.

The news that is heard in the market is Vodafone IT is being outsourced to IBM. I do not believe this is an impossible task to have this functionality, this should have been addressed long ago and someone at the top, who cares about customers has to drill down and see what is causing this delay and kick some asses if required :-)

Cheers,
Nisch

Fully agree with your points, but you do have to be realistic about systems for big corporates.

Changes such as this require not only back-end changes, but also changes to documentation, testing, deployment, staff training etc. Having recently made changes to our internal systems, I can imagine the issues Vodafone faces when they are much much bigger than us.

Frustrating I know, but when you change something that affects so many it's best to take it slow and get it right the first time Smile

I have been in IT industry for quite a while now and work on ERP systems, these systems are integrated will all the systems and processes that the businesses use and making any changes to them is quite a challenging task.
I agree that vodafone environment is quite complex, but I do not agree that these tasks can never be possible, vodafone has postponed their go-live dates for this functionality several times now and I as a customer is losing faith in them. The management should realise by now that there is something wrong with the way this functionality is being rolled out and have to address it. When a go-live date is planned, there is a buffer kept in case of last minute issues and timelines of all activities are taken into consideration and verified. Vodafone is not a small shop where someone just dreams of a date and then when it is not reached, another one things of another date out of nowhere and having no background to it. I think the right people are not involved and making decisions there.

I certainly appreciate the complexities that arise from changes to existing systems. However as nisch said - one expects Vodafones technical teams to understand this as well. My frustration comes from the habitual cycle of being given timeframes and then having that timeframe lapse that Vodafone has been displaying for some time now.

TOMORROW IS THE DAY!!!

You will be able to move BOTH WAYS tomorrow, PrePay to On Account and vice versa :-)

You mean you can switch both ways, porting is between carriers Innocent

Hats off to VF for finally making this available (and the amount of effort that went into it).. Time to move a few numbers to prepay.

I'll be heading into a Vodafone shop first thing to switch a pile of numbers to Prepay. This better finally work after almost a year's delay.

You have to remember Telecom had the capability from the start.

so there should be no problem moving my vodafone prepay to a telecom plan?

I have been with 3 companys here in the uk and kept my number on all of them no problem so I don't see any reason why I can't do it in nz.

They should have a standard legenth of phone number instead of having longer numbers for prepay and shorter ones for contract.

Read the thread please!!

Mobile number porting between networks has been in well over a year!!

This thread is about switching between vodafone prepay & on account and keeping the same number (this is not porting)

How do you switch over? Can you just call the helpdesk, or are you forced to visit a dealer and buy another SIM card?

Going from prepay to on Account would have to be done in store (ID required , credit checks)

Not sure about going other way!
