Hi Guys

I am wanting to get Vodafones e.t.p -External Termination Point- removed off the side of our house in Christchurch (old Telstraclears e.t.b)

We have Fibre installed for about a year and a half, absolutely no problems at all, best thing we did.

I have rung Vodafone to ask them today to come and remove it, but they said chorus's job or get an electricians to take it off

They have absolutely refused to do it, I wouldn't do it under any circumstances. I asked them multiple times on the phone to do it, but they just refused.

Can someone please help

Regards Gigafibre5

Sounds like a job for the X Squad!! Perhaps they could get a Ninja to come and cut it away with throwing stars or something.

...yea I know, not helpful. Vodafone use Downers technicians for their cable stuff so just a case of getting one of those guys to come and cut it away. I'm guessing Vodafone think you are talking about the Chorus copper ETP hence, not wanting to do anything about it.

Yes, it probably is Chorus's (or whoever the contractor is in your area), but has to be raised via the ISP.

So you did the right thing IMO.

I am wondering if it would be up to Chorus(or whoever the UFB provider is in  the area), because isn't she old saturn ETP box and network it is connected to solely owned and operated by vodafone? So I would have thought it as up to them to arrange it's removal

Coincidentally I made the same request this morning. Called broadband tech support and had a request lodged. Whole call took under 10 minutes.

Well, request has been lodged, but fingers crossed. :) We're getting the house painted and may as well have two overhead cables instead of four.

I linked to an answered thread that has two Vodafone staff on Geekzone who can help if you have no luck with their helpdesk.

Definitely not Chorus - HFC is nothing to do with the Chorus network. It's Vodafone's network to sort.

FWIW they use Downer in Wellington to manage physical HFC changes, don't know who they use in Christchurch
