So, I called up Vodafone two months ago and canceled one of my numbers and made a note on my bill. Two months later I'm still being billed for it. Sigh. Oh, and Vodafone have no record of cancelation.

So, I called up and got the Egypt call centre again and said I wanted to cancel all the services on my account AGAIN, my main number had been ported to XT so didn't need to cancel that.

Amusingly enough the girl in Egypt asked me to hold, and I got transferred to a New Zealand call centre for a 'unsubscription' line.

Seems like Vodafone deems you only worthly enough to speak to a NZ call centre if you are wanting to leave so they can talk you out of it. I told the guy I was moving to mobile broadband '3G' :) hehe.

He asked if I was leaving of any problems. Sigh, yeah all the problems I kept logging for years until they asked me to stop logging faults.

So anyways, I get my bill today and have a $560 early disconnection charge on my bill, because they decided that a simple plan change was a re-sign for 12 months. It really annoys me that every time I change my plan Vodafone think they can lock me into a 12 month contract, until you actually ask them to show you the contract you signed and then they scratch their heads and go oops. Happened a handful of times so far.

The other interesting thing is how on earth they got $560 as I have a $40/month talkzone 10c plan and paid cash for my iPhone a year ago...

So yet again I had to call them and spoke to some girl which said a couple of times they would call me back yesterday by 1:30pm and heard not a blip outta them.

Vodafone has yet again made my last interactions with them as painful as possible, while also trying to rip me off one last time.

God I hate them. Sigh. Off to call them again.

All of Vodafone's billing systems are offline, the call centre can't see any of my billing details. They can't take Credit Card payments and their systems will be down until 8AM tomorrow.

Someone. Kill. Me. Now.

They should officially change their name to Voda..sucks.. haha, anyway more to the point, their billing system has been down quite a few times - and it takes the whole pre-paid top up system with it.. nothing worse than having a $20 prepaid receipt, but yet, can't do jack with it until they sort their system out.

That is why I stick with pre-pay. Sure, things may go wrong but it seems there are more problems with on-account customers.

Makes me very bloody grateful that I rarely have to interact with them.

Most recently I had to ring to get my phone suspended as i'd misplaced it. Didnt seem to be a drama.

Getting it unsuspended several hours later when my phone was found, was also not a problem, and by the next time I went to use it, it worked fine.

I seriously hope Voda get their stuff in one sock before I have to engage them for anything more complex. (Paul, are you reading this?)

Do you want someone to have a look at your account to find the problem? Can I ask johnr to contact you?

Absolutely. I've been struggling to get someone to have a look for a while now, I would really really appreciate it. I forgot about John, times like this make you forget there are still good people working at Vodafone. Isn't he more technical than support?

According to Vodafones own announcements on their forums, their customer services systems have been down at least 6 times in the past month alone!

I'm just trying to back quietly out of the Vodafone tent cause I found a nice warm room at the Telecom inn,  but the roof caved in on me by the exit sign. So close...

I lost my rag at them tonight and Eqypt hung up on me twice haha.

LOL sounds like the fun and games I have with them, Only just got my last bill sorted out with them a few days ago (after a week or so of waiting and then asking Paul to get someone to ring me). My problem is that they charged me GST on a termination charge when the website said "GST included" ended up yelling at call center people and the standard "oh the supervisor will call you back" never did.
However wednesday got a call from them saying they had fixed it however they cant send me a invoice until the billing run happens again, told them I am not paying it till i get an invoice so now i have to wait till the end of this month to pay it (more than 6 weeks after i went to XT). It was kind of funny as I was almost begging the call center people to let me pay them money, I have spent about 5 hours running after this for something that should have been fixed in 10mins. I am now on XT prepay (never been on prepay before) and finding it not to bad, I use to have a bill of 120 a month, now its about $50 however have found XT to be "not sending text messages" a couple of times but just went down to the telecom store and they did tell me there were problems in newmarket (fixed in an hour both times) and you have to expect that with a new network.

Well, still trying to leave Vodafone...

No callbacks, called again tonight spoke to someone in NZ which said the company name change was a 12 month re-sign of the contract, and promises to send through the contract I signed, time will tell, but going by last experience we will see.

She said I had 8 months left on my contract which was a $40/month talkzone plan which equals $400, but couldn't explain why my termination fee was $560.

Couldn't give me a credit because they couldn't supply the services they promised (3G and voice calling from my home.) even her manager couldn't authorise credits.

Looks like I'm going to small claims, I'd fed up at being pushed around by them, ruthlessly charging me for services they cannot deliver...

So, stay tuned kids, I'll post the details here of the case as I progress though :) I've always wanted to go to small claims, and I got my cowboy hat at the ready.

It should be illegal to charge a termination fee in excess of a) The cost of the plan for the remainder of the term and b) any handset subsidy given.

I agree, I purposely paid cash for my iPhone so I *wouldn't* be locked into a contract, then still get stung because I changed companies and Vodafone's so insecure they insist on locking you into contracts.

I'm so sick of it all, and have now decided that enoughs enough and I'm going to go to court and get all of it refunded all the way back to the initial faults I logged.

I said to the girl tonight, that I'm not in physical pain, but I do feel like hurting myself after talking to Vodafone. :)

Gyms are no better when it comes to term contacts. Exodus quoted me $37.50 a week for a 6 month contact. To get under $30 you have to sign up for 12 months. 3 years will get you under $25 a week. Screw that.

Plenty of competition in that market too so it surprises me they still all get away with doing it
