It's a pity it doesn't include weekends, but I daresay Vodafone must have more spare capacity during weeknights than they do during weekends, and this is their way of making good use of it.

It still seems like a really good deal to me and, with any luck, it might encourage a few more people to ditch their landlines. Dammit, John, you're making me even more tempted to switch back to Vodafone!

I don't think it will be a flood of calls but customers will use there mobile as per normal but not worry about the cost and there is still free SMS 021 to 021 029 in the weekend

Why? Telecom launched a similar promotion a couple of days before Vodafone. Granted, it is 3 minutes - 60 minutes instead...

But was the Telecom promo only for prepay customers. Correct me if I am wrong! Vodafone has just raised the bar and making it better but to be honest the longest I will make a call for is 10 minutes.

And how long before they change it? We have seen this game before. One introduces, another changes, one "enhances"...

It seems stupid that Telecom would insist on only offering this deal to Go Prepaid users, because telcos typically seem to try to encourage people to take up calling plans due to the low ARPU that prepaid customers offer.

Another aspect to consider is that Telecom risks canabalising their landline revenue if they offer this sort of deal on their mobile network. Vodafone, on the other hand, have little to lose and everything to gain.

SNicolle: COMPETITION dont you love it?

I do, but i also remember (recently) hearing Vodafone quotes such as "we are market leaders, not followers".

Looks like they have followed here... (and gone one better).

This stuff is great :-)
