Just rang TelstraClear shop in Courtenay Place to see if the instore demonstration of HomeMedia was in place only to be told “not yet, hopefully sometime in February”.

When queried about a time frame for installation, the person stated sometime in March but refused to give a definite time.

With the Football World Cup starting in June can TelstraClear give a guaranteed time for installation before then? I personally doubt this very much. I have now decided to give TelstraClear another month to get there act into place, or I’ll dump TC television and go to Sky. One very pissed off customer.

I asked them in the shop on Tuesday, and they said they are hoping to have demo units in a week or two. But they also said they are still aiming to meet their deadline of being able to install units by the end of February. I'm also doubtful, but willing to give them until the end of the month. All the new TV series (Lost, etc) are all starting soon and I was hoping to be able to watch them in HD, but it's not looking likely.

Received some good feedback regarding the HomeMedia today, but can't say much more sorry. Things still being tested and worked out.

With all due respect this is the same line TelstraClear has been given out to customers for the last eighteen months. If TelstraClear had been more up front and told the truth about the proper release date I for one would be more willing to wait. No TelstraClear has been pulling the wool over customers eyes for months now and still they keep on with the same BS.

The key difference being 18 months ago TCL didn't have a PVR. They were all talk.

I can personally assure you that they do actually have a PVR that is currently undergoing final testing.

They might not have had the unit but they were certainly telling customters that it was due in the near future. See link.

As you seem to be informed about the PVR maybe you can do what TelstraClear has failed to do and give a definite time scale for release.

TelstraClear are saying the PVR will be available in February. That was what they announced in December and is still the official word now - Stuart posted this above.

Maybe someone should tell this to TelstraClears employees in the Courtenay Place Shop because the guy I spoke to-day with certainly wasn't aware of this. Not only are the customers in the dark it would appear that TelstraClear employees are also.

I'm doubtful that they will release their deadline of end of February, so if they miss that by even one day then they will be into March, which means the guy in the TCL store was correct.

"TelstraClear HomeMedia PVR will be available for installation in early March 2010.
We will be taking orders, early in the new year. Those who have registered will be the first to get the opportunity to order."

The latest time scale is now "Instore Demonstation" Mid March.

The latest time scale  is now "Installation" end of March.

This has been going on for eighteen months now and still no  definite time for demonstration or installation.

You have to hand it to TelstraClear, if they had said eighteen months ago they have no idea when the "HomeMedia" would be released how many would have still subscribed to TelstraClear television, I know I would have gone over to Sky months ago. They have BS'd their customers for months and continue to BS their customers, come on TelstraClear come clean and give a definite time for installation so people can make a decision on whether to stay or leave.

As I posted elsewhere, a little more quantified here.

"We will be having pre-launch demonstrations 19th March and will begin taking orders approximately one week later."

Ah look, I get a Union Jack. Wonder if that is permanent, or does it revert to the Kiwi flag when I return home?
