Another day another Telecom XT fail. I'm a typical young adult; poor & enjoys txting. My friends and I all recently changed to XT simply for the $12 "unlimited" txting plan to ANY network. AWESOME we thought. Not anymore due to the xt network packing a sad for the 4th time as i type this.

I am pleading to Vodafone, please give us a txt plan to any network and i can almost guarentee half of all New Zealands young adults will switch within a week sending your profits sky high and showing Telecom that cutting costs on reliable gear serves them right.

i agree.iv got a pretty even split with my friends on both telecom and vodafone.a multinetwork text plan would be great

While not having network wide outages like Telecom, Vodafone does have small "glitches" and looking at their Vodafone Network Issues pages you can see they seem to always have something going on.

yeah,i was with vodafone for a few years and they did have small glitches.those were always resolved quickly for me though.i think in 3 years with vodafone i called customer services twice regarding a problem.i have been on XT since november,and well.....

IMO its the #1 thing Vodafone can do to win customers back, offer on prepay all-network texting bundles instead of on-net offers only

An unlimited TXT plan doesn't stack up.

What I don't understand however is why Vodafone have never launched their on and off net You Choose TXT addons on Prepay. Having no option but paying 20c for off net TXT messages is bad in this day in age.

how about a txt2000 add-on to any network not just voda. Just seems silly as to why not.

I have talked to lots of people and the only thing keeping them with XT is the $12 text plan to any network.

If vodafone did a good deal like trade your XT phone get some phone for cheap and $12 text any network im sure SO MANY people would be on their straight away.

Interconnect charges might not make it worth it maybe? I'd be happy even with an add-on that only gave me 200 texts to any network.

It simply isn't going to happen.

THe honest truth is that no network really wants customers who spend $10 per month. They are low value customers who are in many cases not profitable and have no loyalty - a fact that is clearly demonstrated by posts from people saying "I would move networks if x network offered x txt plan".

Telecom have a very low APRU for prepay customers that is significantly less than Telecom. Een 2degrees appears to have a higher APRU than Telecom.

If the XT press release is to be believed, the problems are mainly due to overloading. If Vodafone was to put out a plan like this it is highly likely the same thing would happen to them...
