I recently changed my broadband and phone from Snap to Telstra Clear... What a mistake that was.. They didn't transfer it properly and i was without service from last Thursday through to today... But the biggest issue is their speed... Snap was giving me an average of 15,000 downstream and 600 upsteam.

Since this was connected earlier today im struggling to get 4000 downstream and 500 upstream.

I've checked the modem is still set to ADSL2 etc. Same modem, same line, same cabniet, same exchange, just a new ISP...

Would this be the permanent speed from my new ISP most likely? Or is their a peroid before everything goes up to full?

Any advice would be appreciated...

What is your sync speed?

And are you definately fed from a cabinet or exchange? TCL do have the largest number of ULL exchanges in NZ so depending exactly where you are you could be fed from this rather than the "same" equipment.

I changed from Snap to Telecom and experienced the same speed issue. Here's my posting about it

It wasnt until I received my new modem from Telecom that I regained full speed. I think some ISPs use different types of ADSL2+ Modulation?

Try using another make/model of modem and see what speeds you get.

Which plan are you using?

The online customer zone will let you know.

All the current plans use "Maximum speed" i.e. Maximum speed relates to ADSL/ADSL2+ services delivered as fast as your connection allows.

The basic premise for the TelstraClear internet is to make it as fast and simple as possible.

Being close to a cabinet doesn't mean your connection is being fed from there. Also others here asked for yur modem stats and you haven't posted yet.

Sorry i had not posted yet as i was awaiting a fault to be processed through technical support at Telstra. However as yet despite promises no updates from them, when i ring i'm told no issue but we will re submit the issue for investigation... Then same issue when i call 24 hrs later.

ADSL status shows the ADSL physical layer status.

Please note even when i call TElstra they admit the max speed is 22,000

I was ahceiving a hugely higher max speed with Snap, compared to 7547 anyway.
