Today I had my T-Box installed. Thanks Grant for getting the install sorted.

However, I'm having an issue. I have a Daewoo 32IN TV & when the T-Box is connected via HDMI, I get the TV with a pink overlay and no audio. Sometimes, it will be normal & then go pink, again with loss of sound

I have tried different HDMI cables, to no avail. My Xbox 360 & DVD Player work fine with both HDMI ports, just not the T-Box

If it's connected via composite, all is good.

I was at work when the installer came and set it up, but my partner says he also had this problem, but set it up as composite

Anybody else come across this & any ideas on how to fix it? (before I call TCL)

I think the installer should have left a phone number for you to call if you have any installation problems within 7 days of the install so personally I'd give that a call and get them back in to check it out.

I always make sure I'm at the installation to make sure the technician are installing what they should be installing. Choosing composite output is an easy way out for them - which I won't have a bar with it.

Do they leave you the HDMI cable that come with it? Do they leave the box as well - as it seems you will need to retain the box in case if you're returning it in the future (regardless if you took out the $499 one-off, or monthly $15 rental).

Back to topic, in your case, is there any specific setting for HDMI on the TV?

My installer didn't leave me with the HDMI cable and he said that the box could be disposed of. Seems like there's a little bit of inconsistency!

Assuming that the T-Box is supposed to have a HDMI cable with it, any ideas on how I get it? (As, at some point, I'm going to want to go HDMI)

[off topic]@r2b2.. ah.. Well I had one installer that was going to dispose of it for me, but the other installer that was at the location said they're meant to be kept by the customer for returning the box in healthy protected condition.

And since I had it installed as HDMI connection, they took away the RCA cables!!! Argh - though I have enough of that to sell as garage sales goods.

I have no idea how you can get your "free" HDMI, you could try calling TCL up and ask about it. As for the box, I think they're probably "gone" by now, it has your T-Box serial number, MAC 1 and MAC 2 addresses. Be handy to get those information without having to dig for it from the back of your T-Box.

Personally, I think they should include the sticker of such vital information on the inset of the T-Box manual.[/off topic]

I couldn't be there due to work. They left a HDMI cable, but that didn't help either. Box is there too. I will give them a call on Tue if it's still playing up

No complaints about the install, was called Monday, installed Tuesday in less than an hr (existing digital STB replaced), all good. We have moved from an old Series 1 Tivo to the T-Box so we missing some of it's features but the better quality output is nice.

Main issue we are seeing is the output turning into what looks like an oil painting, only way to get it back is to restart T-box (power off). Connected to TV via Reciever that has been working fine for other HDMI devices. This is impacting on the WAF. Anyone else seeing this behavior?

Minor grips:

While watching a recorded program, seems to record that someone changed channel at some time during the recording so you will be watching, the channel numbers appear on the screen, the recording stops and you end up on the live channel. The recording is fine, just need to start watching it again.

Whist pausing a recorded program (3-4 mins) it will switch to live-tv, you have to start watching the recording again.

Search, would be nice to be able to search for a program by title (or have I missed something?)

Cheers

Mark

Whilst I had 2 programmes recording last night I switched off the TV and the T Box. This morning the red recording button was still on but was unable to switch on the T Box, so had to unplug the modem and t box and then re plug. The 2 progs were shown on the planner as part recorded but they were in fact complete. Does this tell me that the T Box can't be turned off whilst in the middle of recording?

I would have thought thats how all recording devices operate?
I think they will wake up to record, but if it's recording, it can't contnue to do that witout power.

It probably should tell you that a recording is in progress and it won't power off until it's finished.

Phone the TelstraClear customer line and refer them to the User Guide (see the pdf link on the upper-left at http://www.telstraclear.co.nz/residential/inhome/homemedia/tbox-what.cfm). See page 12 " The HomeMedia PVR Box comes with an external power unit, 1 x Composite cable, 1 x HDMI cable".

Mine's being installed tomorrow, and I'm a little peeved to read that it has an "external power unit". But I shall be making sure I get both cables.

External plug packs rather than internal PSU's are one way to improve the reliability of products. PSU's are one of the greatest single point of failure in any electronics device, and also generate a lot of heat which can be placed outside the box, rather than in it.

Hi Can anyone help. We have had our Tbox for a couple of weeks now. the problem we are having is the continual freezing of the picture  when just watching normal channels and especially when changing channels. Really annoying whren you are watching a movie!! My wife is gettong particularly annoyed with this and may tell me to get the old box back soon. I rang Telstra and was told it would be corrected in the next software update which was supposed to happen last week but I am still having problems and believe the update has been installed

Had our first complete failure yesterday, not being replaced until Tuesday morning. Very low FAF (family acceptance factor), we missed the rugby, back to watching live TV via digital and I assume we are going to loose our settings. Let's hope the next one is more reliable.
