Loving the new Soho Channel and saw an ad in the paper (for Sky) advertising the channel 9.95 per month.
I'm currently getting Rialto Plus package for 9.95. ..but probably only watch 1 or 2 movies amonth these days, but as we get all the extra kids channels with it, I've kept it (for the kids of course!).
So went on line to what packages if any offered with Soho (when the free offer supposedly runs out next month).. guess what...its not listed in any channel line up?!?!?
So thought OK, website not updated lets call customer care line...what a waste of time, the agent knew nothing of the channel ..even though its on channel 10 and offered no suggestion about what to do, except to call Sky?!?. ..as an aside there was a what sounded like a crying baby in the background of customer care ?!?!?!?!?
anyhoo..Surely Telstra are losing customers through lack of organisation and communication within their own company or even coming up with any marketing in line with what is actually happening in their own channel line up!
will Soho just disappear in a months time as Telstra have been able to work out how to market it to their customers?  ones like myself willing to pay for a service if it was available!

confused and a wee bit irate after wasting 30 minutes of my day trying to figure it out!

Not that I care particularly but on my package which is basic digital, sports and Food Channel (whatever package that is) I get Soho. I don't get anything else like Riato, Arts, MGM etc.

It doesn't even seem to have anything interesting on it anyway, why on earth do they think they can charge $10 for ONE channel for?

Is SoHo in HD? If so, do you need to pay for the HD ticket BS to get it in HD on top of the $10 per month?

it is in HD but you have to pay xtra for the HD ticket on top of the monthly access fee for SOHO.  Apparently SOHO is free until the end of December or so they were advertising last night on TV.

SKY requires viewers to purchase an HD ticket if they want to view HD content. This  requirement and the price is the same for our T-Box as it is for their equipment. The SKY SoHo page says:

"All content will be broadcast in HD where available, however as with all other SKY HD broadcasts, viewers will need to have an HD television, MY SKY HDi and an HD ticket to view in high definition."

We'll be updating our web pages soon with the SoHo price and other information, as well as adding the option to subscribe to your personal 'Order or change products' section (under Customer Zone/My Profile - the orange button on the right of the page).

Hope this helps.

Hi again. We have added SoHo to our channel lineup: http://www.telstraclear.co.nz/residential/inhome/tv/channel-line-up.cfm

From 25 November you should be able to order SoHo online via your 'My Profile' page or from one of our Customer team on 0508 888 800.

Cheers, Gary

Thanks for clearing that up. $10 a month was kind of tempting but not so much $20 for the one channel.

I have MySkyHDi - I don't pay for the HD ticket because I don't have movies or sport.  However, I still get HD content on TV1 etc.

I was also interested in the SoHo channel but there is no way I would pay $20/month for a single channel of content that will eventually make it to TV1/2/3/Prime etc?  I am now used to seeing TV in beautiful HD - getting the channel in SD would be a step backwards IMO

Hi Starblazer. You're right. ONE, 2 and 3 have HD content that doesn't require the HD ticket to view in HD. SKY subscription channels that have HD content do require the HD ticket. Without this, HD content will be shown in standard def. This is the same whether you get your SKY channels directly or with TelstraClear.

Cheers, Gary

Thanks Gary

I appreciate that TCL and Sky have the same policy.  I'm just saying that for someone in my position who does not already pay for the HD ticket - paying $20/month for 1 channel is not a great deal especially considering most of the content will be on normal TV eventually.

Thanks Stargazer - I can certainly understand your position. Apologies though as I didn't explain it very well! We offer SKY channels to our cable customers as a service, so the SKY HD ticket requirement is not something we can change. Hope that makes it clearer.
