Android (well certainly Samsung), now does insane (mis)management of the alerts.

When we here in Auckland got the storm warning a couple of months ago, many (android) users complained that they couldnt find the messages to re-read after they had initially dismissed them.

My wifes old Galaxy S7 (Android 8.0) had them in the messages app which seems a logical place to look.

Under Android 13 (Samsung One UI 5.1), to find them now, you need to go to Settings/Notifications/Advanced Settings/Wireless emergency alerts/Emergency alert history.

As if anyone will easily recall that after a few months - Sometimes the things developers think are ok, just astound me.

Android as a whole tends to have search function for settings across models I've found.

When you put in emergency, or alert. Its one of the first things presented?

All 3 Androids in the house got the test alert successfully, but the one iPhone (XR, latest iOS)...... got the message but no sound. Thought the alerts overrode your sound settings or am I incorrect ?

The over ride only seems to work on Android. Looks like iPhones are locked down such that emergency alerts can't over ride the system settings.

Daughters work iPhone sounded but not our two older iPhones. Just notification on home screen.

Thanks, but I can't see anything in those links that allow me to read the full message? The message is still available in my notification area but below is what I see. I can't scroll any further down to read the rest of the message.

Mine looks the same and I swipe UP and can read it all.

Actually, I've just solved it myself.

In Settings/Display I had display zoom set to "larger text". If I turn that off, back to default I can now see the full message. Now I just have to play wit the text size slider so I can read everything else again with my old eyes.

Neither of my Android phones got the alert. All the iPhones in the house did, though.

Lucky you got your weather/flood alerts. I support annual testing of the system as a NEMA educational opportunity if nothing else and we know the system works. Makes it even more frustrating here in Napier where surrounding areas got smashed by Gabrielle. Multiple alerts were supposedly broadcast from day one, almost nobody received them because all our mobile networks failed very early on! They weren't transmitters out on remote hills that couldn't be accessed to get diesel to, these were transmitters in well populated, urban areas that were unaffected by the cyclone. I know of TWO people who each got a different alert.

Yes correct. That's how I found it when I wanted to go back and read it after initially dismissing it at dinner time.
