AndrewTD: Useful thread. I'm looking at moving my broadband from WxC's Xnet to this Vodafone broadband deal.
I never use more than 60Gb of traffic.
My average bill from WxC is approx $110 per month. This would go down to $65 per month. A decent saving.
But I'd have to spend the $110 connection fee (don't want a term commitment)
I am a bit worried about the service I would receive from Vodafone.
WxC are very good with their service (not that I need it much), and their techo's know their stuff.

I too have a Draytek Vigor 2710n router - which is pretty good. Although I am annoyed there is no IPv6 f/w for this model. (I'd like to move to actually using IPv6 one day)
And I will continue to use 2Talk for my VoIP (just moved to their new 2Talk+ so I can use G.722)

How have people found the process of transitioning to the Vodafone broadband service?


All Vodafone NZ call cetnre staff (mobile & fixed line) are NZ based here in Auckland

We also have the Vodafone NZ forum that many staff watch over

I asked John this a while back, his reply: "Vodafone never sold naked Adsl off rural exchanges anyway". His other comment (can't find it in my emails) was something along the lines of not much will change until people get back from the holidays, or something to that effect.

The process for me was flawless: we got sky setup (with the discount for HDi) & the phone and broadband transferred over within about a week or so. The modem arrived about a day after (If I remember correctly). As for support, you can always bug John on here or by email ;)

I asked Vodafone about this a while ago - there should be no cost to churn your current N-DSL connection to Vodafone N-DSL and no term contract required. NB: you may have to do over phone though, as online sign-up had incorrect charges.

I asked Vodafone about this a while ago - there should be no cost to churn your current N-DSL connection to Vodafone N-DSL and no term contract required. NB: you may have to do over phone though, as online sign-up had incorrect charges.

This was also my understanding (provided you are not in a term contract), you should be able to move an existing connection for free.

Ok, I got the 028 number to register with 2talk on my draytek. Cool.

Now we have two mobiles in the house - a android for which I will use Bria and a iPhone:

1. Whats the secret to getting them to both ring?
2. Whats the best client for Apple?

I use the 2Talk "One Number" facility to register multiple devices against the one phone number.
I currently have an ATA and an IP phone both registered to ring when my main 2Talk phone number is rung.

It would be a fairly simple thing for you to do the same with a sip client on your android phone and the Draytek router, and - so long as you can find a suitable sip client for your iphone - on the iphone too.

2talk have an iphone app in the app store apparently. I haven't used it.

Ok. My number should get ported to 2talk tomorrow and I want to preprogram the SIP hardware.

I have it working for the 028 number already with this hardware.

If I change 028 xxxxxxx in the sip hardware to 09 xxxxxx of my ported number, will it be set to go once the port happens?
