Over the last 2 days we are starting the experience some incoming calls being dropped.   

3 calls in the past 2 days have dropped anywhere from 1.5 to 4.5mins into the conversation.

We are using a Trixbox with IAX2 trunk to 2talk, recently (forced) to upgrade to 2TalkPlus

Before you unhelpfully reply dissing the trixbox and suggesting some other alternative, it has been working flawlessy for 2-3 years and if it aint broke.. well you know the rest.

The only thing I have changed recently as we used to log in to a 03281XXXX number with the trunk, but I changed it to log in with our 0800 XX XX XX number instead (as the 0800 was just diverting to the 03281XXX number anyway, and the caller ID always showed the source as 03281XXXX which was unhelpful)

other than that the port forwarding is the same, the trixbox IP is the same, and like I say its been near flawless for several years, it seems very unusual.

Ive submitted a ticket to 2talk, and I am expecting a reply before 2014, but if anyone has any ideas id be happy to hear them

If they are slow at replying to 'tickets', phone them. You can usually get phone details of online companies if they aren't listed on the website, from a nz whois lookup on their domain. Remember you are paying them, so you are the cusomter.

Technically, you shouldn't be presenting an 0800 number as your CLID to the PSTN anyway. One (of a number) of the rules that 2talk breaks.

I've had same day replies from 2talk support tickets recently.

TelstraClear also do this. I'm not aware of this actually breaking any rules, but certainly does surprise some people when they see a call from an 0800 number.

I'm not 100% sure it breaks any rules either, but remember reading something about it as 0800 numbers have traditionally only been 'alias' numbers. In the modern VoIP world this isn't necessarily true tho.

My (limited) understanding was you should logon with your 2talk user name, (your 2talk phone number) and you can change the number presented on the caller display in the 2talk settings. 2talk call the number you put in and you must enter the PIN number displayed to authenticate the number.

It doesn't break the rules, but how does the recieving carrier bill for it. it isn't a local or national call.
