Hi all,

I have finally decided to make the switch to VoIP for my calls. I signed up for a 2talk account with an 028 number for now, which is working well apart from the fact that I am unable to receive any calls. I am using Zoiper Softfone on my Lumia 625 running 8.1 with Cyan. I have confirmed my settings are correct in the app as outgoing calls work fine. Incoming calls however do not.

Any ideas on how to get incoming calls working? I am on Vodafone (ex-TCL) cable in Wellington with a Belkin N600 router is that helps.

Cheers,
Paparangi.

Might be a NAT issue. What registration settings have you put into the softphone? Registration timeout etc

If you make a call out, and then immediately try to call in, does it still fail?

Your router may also be set up to use SIP ALG - which you will want to ensure is turned OFF or it will mess with things.

Ditch Zoiper and download 2Talk Connect. Zoiper is a steaming pile of ****.

No incoming calls probably means the device is registering properly - just because outgoing calls work doesn't mean registering is working. Check your router doesn't have anything called 'SIP ALG' turned on. You may want a firewall rule to stop it blocking stuff on 5060.
Once that's all sorted you can bring down the registration and increase how often keep-alives get sent.

The 2Talk Connect app uses a different type of connection back to the proxy and will most probably over come all your problems.

Hi all.
Thanks for the suggestions. I cannot find any option labeled SIP ALG in my router. I would use 2talk Connect in a heartbeat if they had a Windows Phone app. Below are some screenshots of the settings I am using.

Will try the port forwarding of 5060 shortly. Any ideas on a better Windows Phone VOIP/SIP app?

Cheers,
Paparangi

I would avoid forwarding 5060. That might cause you more issue eg. if you IP changes or you want to use more than 1 device.

Maybe try turning off STUN. Not sure that will be helping (I've never found it useful)

OK I turned off STUN and didn't do anything with the ports and it appears to be working on WiFi now. (hope it continues). ๐Ÿ˜Š Any idea how to get it working via 4g on telecom? I'm using the direct apn. Oh and does anyone know if 2talk has PUSH on the server? Its supposed to make notifications work on Windows Phone.

Thanks for all the help. ๐Ÿ˜Š

There is no such things as PUSH for SIP (That I am aware of).

Some mobile apps (Particularly the iPhone ones as iPhone wont give CPU to background apps) use 3rd party registration services that will send a push alert to 'wake up' the app to take an incoming call. I'm not sure how Windows Phone works that that regard, but maybe it's similar to iPhone.

Is Bria available on Windows Phone?.... Nope doesn't look like it.

3CX is available - that would be a much better choice than Zoiper.... I take that back, Looks like 3CX has gone propriety with thier app and it will only work with 3XC phone systems.

Buy an Android!!

But seriously, I see your registration time is 600. Maybe try pulling it right back to something like 360 or maybe 180. Might be just enough to keep a state open on the router.

But seriously

Actually lack of decent SIP apps is one of my only beefs with my windows phone. It worked fine on my cheap LG p500 using sipdroid, but I never could get it working properly on the windows phone -  I think I could get incoming calls, as long as the SIP app was open and the phone unlocked and still connected to WIFI, as soon as any of those weren't true it stopped working for incoming calls, which meant it was pretty much useless. Haven't tried for a while as it's not really a must have for me but would be interested to know if the OP does get it working.
