Hello members
I have finally installed the voip phone and it is generaly working very well. Glad I did it.
One or two questions remain.
If I want to access my mailbox through*55 and use the options e.g. 1, 2.. or any other, the mailbox system does not seem to react to the number I pressed at all.
Has anyone come accross this?
Also has anyone done overseas call and the line drops constantly?
Thanks

What sort of phone are you using?

If DTMF tones are not being detected the DTMF settings are wrong in the phone. These should normally be set to RFC2833. Setting to inband is an option if you are using an uncompressed codec such as ulaw or alaw but will not work with any other codec.

Calls dropping could be any number of reasons, need a lot more detail to answer the question. Are they to particular numbers or countries? Does this happen after a certain period of time (ie every 10 mins)?Does the same issue actually happen if you make a call to a NZ tumber?

That's still not enough information to give you any ideas as to what's causing the call dropping problem.

You need to change the settings in the WebGUI for the HandyTone to DTMF (rfc2833), untick the Inband stuff (Depending on the firmware you're using, you'll have a radio box which will only allow you to select one, or a Tick-box which will wrongly allow you to choose multiple options).

Does the call drop if you ring inside NZ?

If all calls drop it's probably a NAT issue somewhere in your setup or modem/router.

If only calls to a specific country or number drop then it's probably an interconnection problem and you'd need to talk to 2talk about it.

Yeah likewise :) I knew it was you by the Avatar :D

It's always a weird feeling being a regular poster on a forum :p

Anyways, let us know how you go with the international calling, I've had clients doing a fair bit in the last 48 hours without issues so I think sbiddle is onto it with the Router, though if it is just international calling it does sound a lil odd...

Hi Chill
I have tried overseas and it just seems to ring to the point where the engaged sign starts. I then rang(straight after) with a calling card we have and all went without a problem.
So it looks like the problem is with international calls only.
Another wee problem my partner complains is the noise level(scratching, cracking) with the connection. Is there anything I could do to lower that?
Thanks

Does that scratching / crackling also happen on local-calls? Generally when people have that I've found its the phone they're using with the ATA.

What country is this number that you're ringing in?

What happens if you try ringing somewhere such as Australia? Can you call the number at the bottom of this page and confirm the call goes through:

0061 2 9396 1193

Post back with your results :)

Good luck mate

The aussi number works perfectly. I tried to ring switzerland again and it rings till the other side gives the engaged tone.
I'll try again later in the day and post back.
Chilll, are you a reseller of 2talk, if so, I may can pass on new people if they like to connect?
Ketch you later

Are you sure it's an engaged tone? Remember ringing tones aren't the same everywhere in the world.

Ok, it is beep, beep, beep. No answer phone at all. I tried another number and it was the same. Rang on the card as mentioned above and got straight through.
I might try a number or two in Germany to see if I have success.(just to late at night there right now)

Guys, the support here is brilliant, just as a side note!

Could also be a codec issue; try setting codec as G711a (alaw), then G711u, then G729
