MikeB4: OK I did this and my Surface is now installing Windows 10. It would seem that it had stalled somewhere in the process..

What this error means is, your Windows 10 installation folder is unfinished and/or corrupted. Now, how do you fix that?
1. Go into "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" and delete everything in that folder.
2. Now, run the command prompt as an administrator. Type in "wuauclt.exe /updatenow".
3. Go to your Control Panel > Windows Update and your Windows 10 should start re-downloading from scratch, hopefully without flaws this time.

the page seems to be very flaky. I got it Firefox and downloaded the tool . Once I refreshed I got 404 again. Downloading the ISO now. Funny thing is I tried the "Upgrade this PC" option first and it told me "Something happened" and that was that.

I thought Media Player had been dropped from all versions of Win10.

Sorry, yes, Media Centre. So what is the difference then between N and non-N versions of Windows?

I got a headstart at this this morning at 11AM for my file server. Installed with out a hitch apart from my Intel Pro QT Quad 1000 failing to team but that was a driver issue and that's been fixed.

Slowly upgrading all of my machines now :)

Cool - hopefully I can use that to update the laptop that the Get Windows 10 app always refused to start on (but, of course, not tell me why) even though it met all the pre-requisites that I could find.

The images are now up on MSDN... although it claims that my active subscription has expired so I can't actually download it or get a key!

Edit: I can get to the checksums and can confirm that the MSDN image matches the "consumer" one (64-bit International does, at least).
