So my laptop, which I put a new SSD in to install the Insider Win10 (and is now on build 10240 I think, the one where the build number disappeared from the bottom right corner), what do I do with that now?
Will it "expire" or just keep on going?

Home now and ready to try get this.

Have had it reserved, but nothing was downloading.

Deleted the contents of C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download as suggested and now windows update is downloading 747MB, stalled at 2% for last 5 minutes. Seems a bit a small to me?

WINVER does not mention an expiry. It is build 10240 though.

ISO can be used to run the upgrade instead of WU. Just run setup.exe from Windows, or boot fromUSB/DVD ISO and select upgrade option.

There is no expiry. You have a full and genuine install of Windows 10 :) You will notice that it is licensed to Microsoft, though.

Not from my experience. It should all be activated.

I have a 2GB RAM machine 1.5Ghz Atom N550 [2 cores] should I install 32 bit or 64 bit [coming from Win 7 starter]

The Get Win10 icon is not showing anything yet and no directories have appeared either frown

On the Get Win10 icon, what happens does it change colour or provide some pop up ?

I was finally able to upgrade. So far so good. Tomorrow I will see if I can make a clean install now.

32-bit as from what I have read Starter was 32-bit only.
