The Surface Pro 2 is far better value than the other i5 W8 tablets on the local market, its not an ipad competitor at all, it is a ultra portable workhorse, yes i want one and no unfortunately i can afford :(

I think the pricing is about 25% too high across the range of devices. (but the accessories seems to be priced ok).

As a surface user I have been hanging out for the dock. Only question I have is how does a keyboard work with it? Please don't tell me a Bluetooth keyboard is required because Windows 8.1 Preview has absolutely horrid (in my opinion) BT support, especially if multiple devices are active.

when you connect your Surface Pro / Surface Pro 2 into the Dock, you can still use the Type Cover/Touch Cover keyboard, that sits flat on the desk

or you could have a wireless/wired keyboard plugged into the docking station USB

By the way just because I think it's expensive doesn't mean I don't think it's great kit. If money was no object I'd certainly love to get one and have a play...it's a covetable device :)

As far as the Pro goes I completely agree. If you look at the Ultrabooks under $1500 it is pretty slim pickings. I would say in that class the Surface Pro 2 presents a value proposition as good or better than Ultrabooks around it's price on build quality, the ability to use it as a tablet, battery life and accessories.

But, and it is a big 'but', that presupposes you need iCore 5 power and have $1600 to buy a new computer with.

Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?

Microsoft should just do a rigid hinge battery dock option like on the Envy x2. The thing I like about my Envy x2 is the rigid hinge battery dock that makes it run 1-2 days without charge, that turns it into a laptop, and the fact it is fanless.

It's also expensive when it comes to tablets, especially when you factor in the amount of accessories you will need to 'be productive'

Considering going after a normal pro, jb are selling 128gb for 1188 $250 less than a pro 2, do I really want to pay 250 more for a couple hours battery life, and unnoticeable processing speed?

GPU is much better in the Surface Pro 2 with the Intel HD4400

Surface Pro 2 will replace Surface Pro, where as both Surface RT and Surface 2 will continue to be available

excellent, thanks for that. No Bluetooth :)

Usually I just remote into the surface anyhow on the principle that I am too lazy to plug in the HDMI adaptor thingy - one of my pet wants for windows 8.1 is to allow for being able to get the screen magnification right when remoting in (its the old 100% too small on the surface, 135% too large remoting in issue). Seems to work ok when switching between the surface screen and an external screen, but not when moving to a remote desktop.

Does the dock support multiple monitors...I see a single MiniDisplay Port on the specs for it...
