nathan:gnfb:paulmilbank: Try this: https://github.com/christian-korneck/get_win8key. It will pull the key from the BIOS and I think it may even tell you the edition it is valid for. you just run it from the command line.
You can get enterprise without a KMS, but normally only through MSDN or the Microsoft Partner Portal AFAIK. I would be pretty interested to know where the person who sold it to you works and if his company knows the seller is using their keys.
There is no enterprise upgrade path without a reinstall to the next version. It doesn't come through a store or WSUS download like other Windows versions.
I would see if Lenovo can supply media or do a clean install.
Just had a look at that program you suggested and thats well out of my wheelhouse
I can get into the bios setup and it has various UDIA? something like that information and win 8 as type etc
is that the information I would need ?
just don't worry about Enterprise. Whoever sold it to you like that shouldn't have and you're not going to get it going with Enterprise, so you need to reinstall
If you bought it from a shop I would just take it back to them and make it their problem
LOL i t was a trademe deal so no going back but that sok didnt expect to
