My 1.035 TB (O365 plus some other bits) seems vast to me (I have only about 50 GB used), and I remain very happy indeed with OneDrive's allocation, and the way it works seamlessly with my W10 system and software, and with my other systems. Stop griping, pay for your lunch!

Well it's sort of more like removing the filling from your pie after it's been delivered, but not giving you a refund :)

It's the bait and switch they are complaining about.

It is not a bait and switch which is a fraud. Bait and switch offers a deal that is not actually available then attempts to switch you to a more expensive option. The intention is always fraudulent.

Just because it is annoying many people because the terms are nowhere as good as before doesn't make it fraudulent. This readjustment to remove benefits that people have come to rely upon is a common occurrence for "new" services of many types.

I believe the "unlimited" space offer which was never unlimited was a bait to draw in 365 subscription and was never intended to last, not fraudulent but very unethical.

This affair reminds me of Sparks first unlimited broadband fiasco.

What will be next, charging for Windows 10 updates when they have drawn in enough converts? I have an uneasy gut feeling regarding the direction they are going in.

So can I ask what people were using it for?

I myself have both onedrive (office 365 personal) and google apps (still unlimited for now).
My onedrive (which I use the space for my work docs etc) is at a grand total of 8.82GB

My personal google apps drive is 10.9GB + 25GB of mail (never delete emails).
photos are a few more gigs but google photo let you upload unlimited at "high Quality" or at "Original" (which takes up drive space).

I also notice that the limit change is for only "Home, Personal, or University subscribers of office 365"

It looks to me like people were using personal/home to store movies and share them or using 1 account to support storage for a business etc.
I just don't see how people get to over 1TB of data unless it's movie backups or something else a bit dodgy that "personal" plans are not designed for.

If people are worried about the storage then there is this option

This will get you the 1TB of space and the pricing is not to bad, with black friday sales you might be able to get it for cheaper as well.
They also stack so you can buy 2 and get 2 years.

If you buy 1 or 2 years it works out to 5.67 a month (including office and 60 minutes of skype)
This is the current way I purchase my office 365

The unlimited to 1TB downgrade is not even that bad. Most users will not touch anywhere even close to 100GB let alone 1TB. The 1TB deal from OneDrive is still the better deal anyway with Office included in comparison to Amazon, Google, Apple or DropBox.

Most users are peeved about the downgrade to 5GB storage for free users, discontinuing 25GB/15GB storage accounts with it to 5GB as well, getting rid of the camera roll bonus and having more expensive 50GB upgrade option compared to Apple.

Do whatever you want to do man.

If they are only pissed at big usage again invited by MS, why essentially do away with the small plans and free plan.

They simply are not being straight up with their customers, it smacks of the MS of old returning.

My plan which was part of the purchased product has suddenly changed which means I can no longer use it as planned and encouraged by MS.

It's the same as the fiasco with Sparks first unlimited plan an oh my god people used it as an unlimited plan as promoted, absolutely terrible. So Spark pulled it, it was a cynical bait as it appears MS has done here. And given the BS being put out by MS trying to justify only enhances the look that it was a cynical bait.

Either Microsoft are incompetent or disingenuous. To be honest they are more likely to be incompetent than nefarious but it certainly isn't a good look.

I have about 300GB stored on my OneDrive: My documents, Camera roll, Photos and Videos (family videos, not torrents).

I have 1TB thanks to an O365 account but won't renew it. I have 200GB of a Surface bonus that expires Feb 2017. This means at some point I will just live with what I have now: a HP Microserver at home (where I store image backups, local Crashplan backups and remote access to files via Tonido) and Crashplan for online backup. Will just ignore "cloud" as I am not going to upload things to another online drive - too much pain.

So at some point I will just move the files out of the OneDrive folder into local user folders and be done with it. Local storage is quick and is relatively cheaper by the day.

Microsoft removing "unlimited" is one thing. Removing paid limited options is another.
