Hibino: manually set the DNS server fix this problem. or set up a script that do "ipconfig /flushdns" every few minutes also fix this problem if you don't want customize the DNS... Or just stay away from 8.1 before the new firmware for the route come up...XX

Yeah, I've set up manual DNS for the moment and it seems to be working.  Too late to stay away from 8.1 as I blindly upgraded straight away.  :)

Hi
I had this problem with 8.1 preview and hoped it would be fixed in 8.1 RTM but no.  Am using the Google DNS as work around (thank you forum for steering me in this direction).

Does anyone know how we know when a router firmware fix will becomes available?

Thanks

wasabi2k:
thechatking: Maybe, but people on this thread have been reporting problems since September, so that's plenty of time to test hardware.

So which department at Telecom has dedicated testers testing every router they provide with every OS release?

this thread isnt in the telecom forum, so they might not have even known there was a problem, let alone tested it... did anyone log a ticket with them?

has anyone logged a call with Telecom support about this?

"Technicolor have engineered a firmware fix that will be incorporated in the next maintenance release.."

I emailed Telecom about it on Friday, but haven't had a reply yet.

Can one of the mods add [telecom technicolor] to the title of this thread? It might trigger a few users who would have otherwise missed this thread....

changing your DNS to use a public DNS like Google 8.8.8.8 is a workaround not a fix

Technicolor will be releasing a firmware update to fix this issue from what I can gather

There's a 1 click solution if you're running a Technicolor router, taken from the other thread. I've confirmed this script is indeed safe to execute:

l43a2: i have a script i can post that may help with this - credit to Jarrod

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27411242/dnsissues.bat check the bat to ensure its connecting to the right IP address for your gateway (VDSL MODEM ONLY) also make sure you have the telnet feature enabled!!

The script was mainly for some small wifi fixes, but the main thing this does to fix the DNS issue is disable WANDownSpoofing which is what causes the intermittant no transfer issue.

Might want to try a factory reset first on the modem to see if that resolves the issue as I managed to get mine functioning fine after 2 factory resets without having to Disable this.

P.S You're welcome l43a2 :)

I have just returned to the Windows world, having been on OSX for the past 7 years. My new 8.1 Pro machine is indeed having this issue, except I have discovered a slight twist. My Chrome is running great guns in incognito mode!

Anyone else tried this out? Can't figure out what's different though. Chrome and IE in normal mode are just atrocious!
