I can't seem to get beyond 1% installation, where my computer is completely frozen. I don't think I'll be installing it in a hurry. I left my laptop on overnight but when I got up at 2am the laptop was in the same state. Power off, then back to bed it was for me.
As I have a Windows 7 machine sharing my content, I'm a bit concerned by the removal of HomeGroup. I don't really want to return to entering credentials from the Windows 7 host to access shares on it.
Installed this morning on an ageing Lenovo X230 (which has been through a myriad of updates = win 7 > win 10 > anniversary > fall creators > april). All went surprisingly smoothly. Yeah, I've been meaning to clean install!!
Maybe pseudo effect, but things seem a bit smoother/snappier performance wise. The laptop was really starting to feel slow a couple of weeks ago.
Updated this morning on my laptop and it could have gone better.
After rebooting from the update it locked up on the login screen the mouse would move but the keyboard and mouse keys would not reveal the password entry field, so had to do a hard reboot. after the reboot I though it was well and truly hosed as it looked to be doing the same thing but did finally respond after a few seconds.
Then after that it did allow me to login upon getting to the desktop my Google Drive had reset so now having to re-download my entire Google drive as I don't want to tempt doing a merge.
Hopefully that is the worst of it over and done with.

No dramas for me actually. All going well so far...

Brand New (new today) PC & very old laptop with unactivated 10 (old build ver) : both updated no issues
2x brand new laptops :
the cheap & nasty (AMD CPU) laptop is updating OK (now at 85%)
the more expensive (i5, SSD) laptop : stuck at 1% then fails & restarts (tried twice)
both brand new out of the box today. same brand, different model & spec
so, 3 out of 4 with zero issues. So far
So Im expecting alot of people will have some issues . If a brand new laptop cant install the new build/update....
:-)
I have Windows 10 on my new machine...how do I know if this has been installed or not?

Revision shown. 1709 + 16299.402 will be shown (possibly major version of 1803 now)
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4093105/windows-10-update-kb4093105
(you can find current one there too)
But itll take your machine out for a while applying as its a major update.. so unless it does it when you aren't looking itll pester
Looks like there has been some oopsies. https://www.computerworld.com/article/3269566/microsoft-windows/microsoft-unexpectedly-starts-pushing-win10-version-1803-through-windows-update.html
Three out of three no problem here. All older ones but still running fine.
I was hoping that this update was going to add tabs in file explorer. I guess that's coming in a later update.
Well, I got the update without trouble. Windows is STILL messing with my default sound. I wish I could smack someone for this. It's unacceptable!

Now with new application level preferences..
Annnnd that was the final straw. Totally reformatted my PC (I was dual-booting with Ubuntu) and installed Solus Linux. Other than my work computer (of which, most of the time I use a RHEL VM on) I literally can't stand Windows anymore.

winver will show 1803 :-)
One issue Ive come across , same as last time & time before that
On the one laptop it it failed to update, it may just keep re-downloading & re-trying.
Come on MS, sort that crap out. If it fails to install, well OK. Dont just have WinUpdates continuously re-try
Please MS , MAKE SOME PROVISION TO NOT CONTINUOUSLY RE-DOWNLOAD & RETRY if it fails.
No excuse for that, Ive seen that continuous re-download , retry re-fail on many other PC's major 10 build updates going way back
No Spectre patch for 1803
https://www.ghacks.net/2018/05/01/all-the-issues-of-windows-10-version-1803-you-may-run-into/
"No microcode update to protect the system against Spectre attacks. Microsoft released updates only for Windows 10 version 1709 and earlier and has not incorporated the updates into Windows 10 version 1803. If you installed the update on the PC in an earlier version and ran the update afterward, you will notice that the PC is no longer protected. Tip: run InSpectre to verify."
sniff sniff , rush job perhaps ??
