Thank goodness that most of the internet infrastructure runs on Unix and Linux.
I am relieved to see what services still work despite this massive issue.
Does that work if Bitlocker is enabled on the machine though?
Yeah all our PCs need a Bitlocker key to boot into Safe Mode, I have dozens to do across my site.
Got my laptop running AD to look them up but man what a pain. At least we have critical servers up to enable this
If you are affected by this as a MSP and just need another set of hands, I can make myself available to assist. No compensation required nor wanted. Just want to help if I can.
Rising Tide and what not.
I'm in Auckland.
DM me if you need some help.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.
Dynamic and I work together and great minds think alike!
CutCutCut: How long do guys you think this will take to sort? To the point banking works again etc.
Around 7:30pm, at least when I paid for dinner. They said EFTPOS had been out for a bit earlier on.

Thankfully Geekzone is still up.
shrub: The us starts to wake up in a few hours this is gonna be a long Friday for them.
All those devices that were on and accepted the update will need manual intervention.
American Airlines have apparently cancelled their grounding and are resuming services

Same here.

How long is a piece of string. It really depends on how heavily those corps are affected. Considering there are comments here that some systems are already operational again & sometimes a simple reboot is enough, I'd say the central systems most likely are already operational again. It'll be the outlying workstations / ATMs that require a site visit that will take a lot longer.
Please keep this GZ community vibrant by contributing in a constructive & respectful manner.

It looks like big chunks of the impact are customer facing "kiosks" .. Airline Checkin, Self service checkouts, etc,
I'm guessing these may need on site calls, so when you've got 100s or 1000s or sites its gonna be a very long Weekend in the Tech world...
When dependencies are created, dependencies also paralyze everything. There is sheer chaos at the airport as the summer vacation has just begun here. Who designs those things?
Anyone getting errors this morning when accessing Stuff articles?
