Win 7 has right click start but only has properties and win explorer.

Seems they still haven't added the ability to have a clock in each taskbar in a multi monitor setup.

Start Menu all apps seems quite clogged up with apps even on a fresh install

Search Button seems to bring up a blank box and can't be used even on a restart. This might be me messing with things however.

Otherwise seems quite nice to use from the short time I've played around with it.

If you have 8 or 8.1 pro you can add Hyper-V and run it using that instead of messing with VMware virtual box etc, which I assume is how Microsoft are testing it virtualised...

The one thing that everyone(?? ) wanted is STILL not there .
the old style Start menu. NOT just another interface for tiles .

So we still have to use a 3rd party add-on for that. That shows MS's true thinking about 10.

Any easier access to cmd with admin rights from the desktop ?

Right click the start button or Win+X.

Unless you want a desktop shortcut then create a new shortcut and point it to cmd. Then right click, Properties, Advanced, tick the run as administrator box.

Behodar: the feedback app is just opening to a black screen.

I've found a few apps (I think they're Metro apps) doing the same thing so now I wonder whether it's some sort of incompatibility with VMware 9.0.4 rather than an issue with the Feedback app itself.

Is Win X preview ready for use as a daily driver? Doesn't need to be perfect, just cheaper than paying for windows for a friend of mine who's on XP. He only uses it for web and email, maybe word processing.

kiwifidget: Could those in the know please comment if they think WX would run OK on my laptop.
Its a Core2Duo P8600@2.4Ghz, with 3GB of RAM, and a 240GB SSD. It currently runs W7 quite nicely.

Win8 has less system requirements than Win7, Win10 will run fine on that spec machine

Its Windows 10, its been my daily driver for a month

Its obviously still a long way from release, but pretty stable, all my apps and VPN/DA etc work

It's hard to please everyone, if you love Win7 keep on using Win7 is always an option

Threw it on my Nuc at lunchtime. Just did an overwrite of 8.1 Pro. Haven't had time to play with it at all but did notice that there is no Media Center installed so that looks like it'll be an extra again (or dropped entirely)... guess what my feedback is going to be all about... once it even becomes an option.

Looks nice though. I like the combo of 7 and 8 aesthetically. I'd only just become used to 8.1 though so it'll be interesting to see how my brain reacts to this.

XBMC worked fine, too from the brief chance I gave it.

One big gripe I had with 8.1 was that the store doesn't work on a 720p resolution screen (guess what my TV is...) so I have to manually push to 1080 and bear the fuzzy text while I search the store and then drop it back to native afterwards. 10 is the same.

From what I can see, windows 10 will be windows 8 fixed. So it is more of a logical progression from windows 7 than 8 was. So I think most people will be happy with windows 10, and is possibly why some are saying it will be the last full version, and they will do something similar to what apple does with OS 10. Same thing happened with windows 7, which is basically windows vista fixed.
