I like Skype and still use it a bit, not a huge fan of Teams. Zoom is fairly good, but of course that's not MS, so I doubt they would pre-install that one, and you'd need to copy all your Skype contacts over manually, etc.

I remember when we all thought they would never, ever get rid of MSN Messenger...but they did eventually and just replaced it with Skype. Is Skype now going the same way?

Lack of TPM would be the least of my worries. (It's lacking one..) CPU generation 8 and above only. Ow.

My 1st generation Lynnfield is lacking in that department :P

Not kept up with the gaming, so the needs never really been there to pay lots for a couple of Ghz update

Behodar:

Eligible PCs are "Windows 10 PCs that are running the most current version of Windows 10 and meet the minimum hardware specifications".

running Windows Version 10.0.19043.1081 but failed because of Intel core i5 7th gen processor, new computer ? no, will carry on with win 10 as long as it keeps behaving as it has done since I upgraded from Win 8.1 and from way back win 3.1

Then I will shift over to Linux which is running along side Windows..

WINE isn't a distro it's a compatability layer that can be installed on the distro of choice.

Ooops, senior moment, I meant Mint, which is based on Ubuntu, which is based on.........., and, yes, my processor is not good enough and MS have changed my Insider settings accordingly.

Apart from a couple of programs not supported by Linux I'm now seriously thinking of running Linux Mint full time, but will keep an eye on what windows is up to via 'AskWoody Plus' and GeekZone.

Such is life

I have 6 machines running Windows 10 in the house. Of them, I think only one could be upgraded to Windows 11 based on these requirements, and that machine runs headless with a hdmi dummy plug in it. I would hope they relax these requirements or else face a very low and slow uptake.

I assumed it was on the list based on the quote in the thread Guess not and so I won't be going to Windows 11

[UPDATE]  I discovered that my PC didn't TPM available. (ran tpm.msc from the command line).

Enabled it in the BIOS and now it shows TPM 2.0.

But still fails the compatability test because of the CPU. Here is a more detailed reason list from a tool posted on Github

Brumfondl: ... I might just have to upgrade the machine at some stage :/

Or if possible, upgrade to an alternate OS?

My laptop is fine. But I might add a TPM chip to my desktop at some point.
