The email offering it should tell you the expiry date somewhere near the top.  Mine was a bit confusing though, because I first got one in July saying it expired on 29 June, then got another with the subject line "UPDATE: Action required – Important changes to storage limits‏" with an apology for the previous email and an updated date of 10 August.

It also took me a couple of tries to claim it - first time I tried it error-ed while going through the payment step then kept showing me a different error when I retried.  So I left it a couple of days and tried again and it went through OK.

I must admit the whole process didn't strike me as particularly smooth... but I did get there in the end :)

EDIT: As above, try calling their support. That would have been my next step if it didn't work - Microsoft support has always been top notch in the past when I've needed it.

I double checked all the emails again this morning and although the expiration date of storage limits is very clear I don't see anything saying the 365+1TB offer expires before the 27th June. Yes I also got the email correcting the August 10th date and three others/

Before you did the claim did the offer actually show anywhere e.g. in onedrive ?

Anyhow I'll try MS support number provided by Nathan. I assumed MS support is for paying customers !

I'll update later today

ok finally sorted

you don't see the free offer until you add the usual costed product offering to your basket and then see the cost of 0.00

The positives

  1. MS provide telephone and chat support, the later [from the Philippines] was very effective kudos to MS
  2. You can cancel the automatic renewal :)
  3. Straight away I can see the 1TB in my existing onedrive the primary reason for me to take up the offer

The not so goods

  1. It would have been better if MS said somewhere you require to add to the basket to get the offer or actually display it. The link from the offer email took me nowhere useful
  2. As I had to come back to the transaction after a call I found that I no longer had the cost of 0.00 but the usual cost despite being logged in and refreshing. I had to change browser back and forth to get myself to a point of seeing the zero cost option again [some caching issue somewhere] not a biggie but annoying
  3. That MS didn't email existing users of the opportunity to keep the existing bonus storage whilst that existed before the current offer emails. I suspect that was deliberate
  4. That MS even downgraded existing users to 5GB rather than 'grandfathering' them - well I'm sure they have their reasons

In summary good support but the process to uptake the offer was poor

Received another email from MS today about the imminent [COB] downgrade of onedrive storage

Finally this time the link takes one to the MS store with 365 personal showing in cart at NZ$0.00
