Look what arrived in my mailbox this morning....
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/preview

Looks interesting... I sometimes wonder if a technet sub is worth looking at....

8.1 ISO's available from tomorrow, I have a VM ready and waiting....

If they give a cheap deal again like they did for testers of Win 8, I might buy a copy this time.

hmmm. No start button or no start menu?
I heard there is a start button which just brings up the metro screen?

Have they added the option to boot to the desktop?

Upgraded my machine in the morning. Lots of little things changed that make it even better. No data or info lost upgrading from Windows 8 Pro to Windows 8.1 Preview.

shouldn't need to do a refresh, it will upgrade over existing

also if the base language install of your machine is not EN US language you'll need to wait a few more days for the upgrade to install.

give it a try and see what you think

you can default the Start Screen to the all apps view now, you can view apps by date installed, most popular etc

the Start screen shows more apps than the Start menu ever could

The $40 upgrade price was quite appealing, but the product less so.

I still 1 XP and 2 Vista high performance machines needing upgrades - but can't bring myself to spend $500 on upgrades as a typical end user.

$120 on the other hand....

Using it, loving it. Lots of nice little tweaks everywhere. It solved a few issues with laggy applications as well.

Also IE11 is blazingly quick.

I am bummed about LastPass not working in IE11. Add on is not supported. Have requested LastPass to add support for IE11 toolbar. Using Firefox as a browser on Windows 8.1
