I'm no longer sure whether the OS has a bug or functions normally.

But my laptop gives me a warning saying my time has updated to daylight savings ended (i set to automatic) ... but ... umm ... nothing happened.

Anyone else had that?

is the region definitey set to New Zealand.   When I set mine up I set time zone to New Zealand and everything showed nZ.  BUT when I went to the store one app for nz wasnt there.   I went to control panel and region and it was still United Kingdom.   Maybe something like that has happened

My laptop running Windows 8.1 Update automatically changed time but my tablet didn't.

The settings are exactly the same in both.

Win8 PC here (not 8.1 yet).  Same thing, said that "Daylight Saving Time ended on Sunday, 6 April 2014 at 3:00a.m.. The clock went back one hour at that time".  But it didn't, and I had to manually change the time.

Weirdly my Time Zone has to be set to Alaska in order to get the right time.  If i set it to NZ I get told it's Wednesday at 8:16am (it's currently Tuesday at 12:16pm).

Any ideas why this is?

I think it's because you went from Alaska to NZ time zone and windows just added  the extra hours.   I've noticed same from Win XP days when you switch from PST to NZ ..

My Win 8.1 laptop switched fine when I turned it on today after the weekend..

As above. Manually set the correct timezone, then time. Reboot and if persists check BIOS (my HP Microserver for example has timezone settings too).
