Does anyone here have knowledge of printers? I almost never print anything but today I needed to make a label. The computer I'm using is running Windows 7. The printer is a Canon Pixma ip4200. The last time I used it, a few months ago, it was fine. Nothing has changed with it since then.
This time I am getting big blank areas down the page. After spending most of a day running tests and trying different things, I printed out a solid wall of text as a test. It looks like this, except it continues down to the bottom of the page:
Walloftext walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext walloftext Walloftext walloftext
On the printout, the top half of the first line is completely blank. The second line is normal. The third line is completely blank. The fourth line is cut off like the first one. This pattern repeats to the end of the page, 1 1/2 printed lines alternate with 1 1/2 blank ones all the way down.
I tried printing from different software (Word and Notepad). Identical results with blank areas in both cases. I tried an internal test print. It came out normal, no blank areas.
I have no idea what to try next. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I don't think it is a physical printing error since the internal test print is normal but it doesn't seem to be a software error either since Word and Notepad both do the same. I am stymied.
